SAfrica soccer body: 4 players die in car crash
November 11, 2012
JOHANNESBURG (AP) - The South African soccer federation says four second-tier players have been killed in a car accident in the same area where a national team assistant coach died in a crash last month.
The federation says early police reports indicate the players from the Polokwane City club died while returning from a game against Atlie FC on Sunday afternoon in the northern province of Limpopo. The teams are in South Africa's First Division, one below the top-tier Premier Soccer League.
The federation did not identify the players or give further details of the accident.
Thomas Madigage, a 41-year-old assistant to national coach Gordon Igesund, died last month. His car collided with a donkey on a highway in Limpopo, about 185 miles from Johannesburg.
