Guardiola sees challenge of Bayern job

MUNICH (AP) - Pep Guardiola says he is looking forward to the challenge of coaching Bayern Munich after his ``wonderful'' time at Barcelona.

Speaking in German for his first news conference as coach of the German and European champions, Guardiola says he decided to join Bayern because of the club's players, management and history.

The 42-year-old Guardiola says his ``time in Barcelona was wonderful but I needed a new challenge and Bayern Munich have provided that opportunity. So I'm ready, for this reason, to do my best.''

Guardiola guided Barcelona to 14 titles over four seasons when the Spanish club was widely considered the best in the world. He's expected to build on Bayern's unprecedented success last year to establish the club as soccer's new leading team.
