Villarreal beats Granada, third in Spain

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Ruben ``Cani'' Gracia set up two goals for Villarreal in a 3-0 victory over Granada on Friday to help it provisionally move past Real Madrid and into third place in the Spanish league.

The attacking midfielder first drew Granada's defense in the area before laying off for Bruno Soriano to volley in a left-footed shot at the half-hour mark.

And after Giovani Dos Santos toed in Jonathan Pereira's cross in the 49th minute, Garcia passed for Tomas Pina to head in the hosts' final goal in the 82nd.

Villarreal is four points behind co-leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and one point ahead of Madrid.

In the day's other match, striker Oriol Riera scored in the first half as Osasuna beat Malaga 1-0 for its first away victory and second overall of the season.

BERLIN (AP) - Hertha Berlin substitute Ronny came on with 10 minutes remaining to secure a 1-1 draw at Hannover in the Bundesliga on Friday.

The Brazilian midfielder blasted an unstoppable free kick from the edge of the area with his first touch of the game, sending the ball swerving into the top left corner in the 81st minute.

``Unbelievable goal,'' Hertha general manager Michael Preetz said.

Hannover opened the scoring against the run of play through Christian Schulz in the 23rd, when Hajime Hosogai's attempted clearance after a corner landed straight at his feet.

Hannover had been bidding to win five games in a row at home for the first time.

PARIS (AP) - Bastia beat struggling Lorient 4-1 on Friday to maintain its unbeaten home record and climb provisionally to ninth place in the French league.

Midfielder Ryad Boudebouz scored in the sixth minute and hit the crossbar with a curling shot midway through the first half as Bastia dominated. Wahbi Khazri scored the second from the penalty spot in the 23rd after he was fouled by defender Lamine Gassama.

After midfielder Mathieu Coutadeur pulled one back for the visitors 10 minutes later with a deflected shot, former Juventus midfielder Milos Krasic made it 3-1 in the 59th and Ivory Coast midfielder Romaric added the fourth near the end when he headed in Boudebouz's cross from the left.
