ROME (AP) - American midfielder Michael Bradley has recovered from a sprained left ankle and was dressed for Roma's 2-0 win over Napoli in Serie A on Friday night.
Bradley warmed up along the sideline during the second half but did not get into the game. He injured the ankle Sept. 6 during warmups before the United States' 3-1 loss at Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier.
Roma (8-0) matched the longest winning streak at the start of a Serie A season, set by Juventus in 1930-31 and matched by the Bianconeri in 1985-86. Juventus won nine straight to start 2005-06, but its title was stripped in the "calciopoli" match-fixing scandal.
"We're doing great things," Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi said. "Eight consecutive wins count for something. They're important points but we need to continue, otherwise it serves for little."
Former Napoli great Diego Maradona was in attendance but he had little to cheer for.
"Unfortunately I don't play anymore," Maradona said.
Bayer Leverkusen was incorrectly awarded a goal when a header went wide and hit the sidenetting before rolling through a hole in the net, securing a 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
Hoffenheim said it will file a protest and hope for a replay after Stefan Kiessling's header at the near post from a corner kick narrowly missed the target before finding its way into the back of the net. Television replays clearly showed it was not a goal, but referee Felix Brych ignored pleas from Hoffenheim players. Brych was shown the breach in the netting but stood by his decision - the game had already resumed.
"It's a scandal. That was no goal. There are no two ways about it. We are definitely going to protest," Hoffenheim managing director Alexander Rosen said.
His Leverkusen counterpart, Rudi Voeller, also said it was "definitely" not a goal and said his team was in an "uncomfortable situation."
"That's not how we wanted to win the game," Voeller said. "The fair result would have been a 2-2."
Leverkusen (7-1-1) moved into first, two points ahead of Bayern Munich (6-0-2), which hosts Mainz on Saturday.
Sidney Sam scored against the run of play to put Leverkusen ahead in the 26th minutes and Kiessling" doubled the lead in the 70th before Sven Shipplock scored for Hoffenheim in the 88th.
PARIS (AP) - Dario Cvitanich scored in the 40th minute to lead Nice over Marseille 1-0 in the French league.
