The form of away teams in the Bundesliga since the restart has caused a lot of people to think that home advantage has been all but nullified when games are played without fans. But the results in Bundesliga 2 have been much more normal, and this preview includes a lot of home win tips.

The first comes from Berlin, where Hertha meet Augsburg. Augsburg won 3-0 at Schalke recently, but Schalke are a mess at the moment, and Hertha’s form is excellent. They would have won at RB Leipzig without a dreadful goalkeeper mistake, and before that thrashed rivals Union Berlin 4-0 at the Olympiastadion.

Tip: Hertha Berlin to win at 10/11

  • Match: Schalke 04 v Werder Bremen
  • Odds: Schalke 04 +148, Werder Bremen +180, Draw +230

With no wins since mid-December David Wagner’s Schalke 04 are the Bundesliga’s crisis club at the moment. That they are 7/5 at home to second bottom Werder Bremen is a sign that bookmakers think Schalke could sink a lot lower before things get better.

Bremen have tightened up recently, keeping clean sheets in their last two games, but doubts remain over their ability to actually go and win this game. The goal expectancy here is low for the Bundesliga, which brings the draw more into play. This will not be a great spectacle and a stalemate is a good bet at 12/5.

Tip: Draw at 12/5

  • Match: Bayern Munich v Fortuna Düsseldorf
  • Odds: Bayern Munich -1667, Fortuna Düsseldorf +3000, Draw +1000

Bayern Munich all but wrapped up the title with their 1-0 win at Dortmund last week, although the fact that they play Bayer Leverkusen after this may mean they rotate a bit for this banker against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf secured a vital 2-1 win against Augsburg last time out, but their game was played a day later than Bayern and could tire in the latter stages of this match.

Bayern are a superbly oiled machine who, even when they don’t need to, love scoring goals. They average to score an incredible 2.89 per game in the league this season and they could add four or five to that total here.

Tip: Bayern Munich to win 4-0 at 8/1 and Bayern Munich to win 5-0 at 11/1

  • Match: Borussia Mönchengladbach v Union Berlin
  • Odds: Borussia Mönchengladbach -200, Union Berlin +550, Draw +310

Borussia Mönchengladbach look like a good option to put in a multiple this weekend. Their opponents Union Berlin have done most of their best work at home this season. They struggle to score, with only 33 this year. But Gladbach’s defence is not great, so a straight win bet looks the best option here rather than a home win to nil.

Union drew 1-1 with Mainz last time out and had ten men for the last 50 minutes of the game. They also only made two substitutions, so tiredness might be a factor too. Gladbach have won nine of their 14 home games this season and look fair enough.

Tip: Borussia Mönchengladbach to win at 1/2

  • Match: Paderborn v Borussia Dortmund
  • Odds: Borussia Dortmund -315, Paderborn +750, Draw +430
  • Bet Now at DraftKings
  • Date: Sunday, 12:00 ET
  • TV: FS1

Borussia Dortmund travel to relegation-bound Paderborn with their title hopes pretty much over, but they are 1/3 to win this game and should get the job done. However they are likely to be without Erling Håland, who went off injured in the defeat to Bayern after colliding with the referee. That could provide an opening in the first goalscorer market that Thorgan Hazard can fill. It is probably between him and Götze over who starts up front, but it was Hazard who moved up front when Håland went off on Tuesday.

Both are 9/2, so it would be worth waiting until the team news is announced, but if Hazard does start up front then 9/2 looks a great bet in a match where Dortmund are overwhelmingly likely to score the first goal.

Tip: Thorgan Hazard to score first at 9/2
