June 30, 2008
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -U.S. national team member Josh Wolff is returning to Kansas City after a two-year stint playing in Germany, signing a four-year deal with the Wizards on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Wolff spent the past two seasons with 1860 Munich in the German Second Bundesliga, where he scored two goals in 34 games. The 31-year-old forward played for Kansas City from 2003-06, scoring 27 goals with 20 assists in 80 games.
Wolff, who started his career with Chicago, has 59 goals and 35 assists in 164 games, winning a pair of MLS championships. The two-time MLS All-Star also played in the 2000 Olympics, 2002 World Cup and has 59 caps with nine goals for the U.S. national team.
``I am very excited to be back in Kansas City,'' Wolff said in a statement. ``My family and I obviously have great ties here and it was a difficult decision to leave the first time, but it was something that we had to do. In coming back to the United States and MLS, Kansas City was first and foremost in our minds.''
