European champion Spain won 3-0 at Estonia to extend its unbeaten streak to 25 games, and England outplayed Kazakhstan 5-1 in another World Cup qualifying game Saturday after being booed off the field at halftime by its fans.
Struggling France rallied from two goals down to tie Romania 2-2 and preserve coach Raymond Domenech's job, and Germany edged Russia 2-1 to stay in first place in its group.
World Cup champion Italy, missing half its injured regulars, played to a 0-0 draw in Bulgaria to remain atop Group 8. The Italians have seven points from three games and are three ahead of Ireland, which did not play.
In Washington, the United States breezed into the final round of World Cup qualifying with unusual ease.
DaMarcus Beasley scored a pair of first-half goals, Landon Donovan and Brian Ching padded the lead early in the second, and the Americans routed Cuba 6-1. Jozy Altidore and Oguchi Onyewu added goals for the United States in the final minutes as the game got sloppy and the Cubans tired.
With two semifinal-round matches remaining, the Americans (4-0) already have secured a berth in next year's six-nation finals of the North and Central American and Caribbean region. The top three teams in the finals qualify for the 2010 World Cup, and the No. 4 nation goes to a playoff against the fifth-place team in South America for another berth.
In Kingston, Jamaica, Ricardo Fuller scored in the 14th minute to help Jamaica beat Mexico 1-0. Mexico has nine points in qualifying, while Jamaica, whose only points before Saturday night came on a 1-1 draw against Canada, has four.
Juanito Gutierrez and David Villa put Spain in control at Estonia and defender Carles Puyol added a third in the 69th minute as the Euro 2008 champions kept their lead in Group 5 and maintained its two-point advantage over Turkey and Belgium. Turkey edged Bosnia-Herezegovina 2-1 and Belgium overcame Armenia 2-0.
England needed 52 minutes to break down Kazakhstan before the Wembley goal rush started.
Wayne Rooney scored twice, forced a Kazakhstan defender into an own-goal and stand-in captain Rio Ferdinand and Jermain Defoe also scored. But Kazakhstan punished a casual backpass by England defender Ashley Cole to make it 2-1 in the 68th.
Ukraine and Croatia got a 0-0 draw to help England, which has a perfect nine points from three games and leads Ukraine by two and Croatia by five going into Wednesday's next round of matches.
Cole's blunder promted England fans to jeer him every time he touched the ball.
``It doesn't help when the fans are booing one of their own players,'' Ferdinand said. ``Hopefully the people have gone and may feel a bit ashamed of themselves.''
Down in fourth place in Group 7, France looked in more trouble when it fell two goals behind Romania inside the first 17 minutes in Bucharest. But Franck Ribery began the comeback in the 36th and Yoann Gourcuff tied it in the 69th with a 35-yard dipping shot.
The tie moves France a point closer to the lead and that should keep Domenech in charge for a little longer despite the team's first-round elimination at Euro 2008.
Serbia beat Lithuania 3-0 and both teams have six points, with Austria, France and Romania at four each.
Lukas Podolski and Michael Ballack scored in the first 28 minutes against Russia in Dortmund. Although Andrei Arshavin replied in the 51st, the Germans held on to stay atop Group 4 with seven points from four games.

Scotland's Chris Iwelumo made a ghastly miss at Hampden Park in his debut. The striker fired wide of an empty net from three yards away seven minutes after entering as a second-half substitute.
The Czech Republic's chances of reaching the World Cup got slimmer after a 2-1 loss to Group 3 leader Poland left the club six points behind the leaders.
Slovenia beat Northern Ireland 2-0 to stay even with seven points at the top, and Slovakia's 3-1 victory at San Marino means it is one spot behind with six points.
