Mastroeni, Rogers dropped from US roster

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) -Colorado midfielder Pablo Mastroeni and Columbus forward Robbie Rogers were dropped from the U.S. roster for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier at Trinidad and Tobago. They were replaced by Chicago forward Chris Rolfe and Columbus midfielder Brian Carroll.
Mastroeni injured a knee during Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy, the U.S. Soccer Federation said Monday. Rogers has had a sore back after getting hit during Sunday's 2-2 tie against Chicago.
The United States is 4-0 in the semifinals of the North and Central American and Caribbean region, having assured itself a berth in next year's finals with Saturday's 6-1 victory over Cuba (0-4) in Washington. T&T and Guatemala each are 1-2-1.
Following Saturday's game, U.S. coach Bob Bradley released nine players from his roster, including eight starters.
The revised roster:
Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa, England), Troy Perkins (Valerenga, Norway);
Defenders: Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Danny Califf (Midtjylland, Denmark), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus), Michael Orozco (San Luis, Mexico), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock, Germany), Marvell Wynne (Toronto);
Midfielders: Freddy Adu (AS Monaco), DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Brian Carroll (Columbus), Maurice Edu (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Danny Szetela (Brescia, Italy), Jose Francisco Torres (Pachuca, Mexico);
Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Villarreal, Spain), Charlie Davies (Hammarby, Sweden), Chris Rolfe (Chicago).
