Recap: Sun , Sky
Date: June 16, 2009 8:00 PM EDT

CHICAGO (AP) -Jia Perkins scored 25 points, including 11 in Chicago's fourth-quarter comeback, as the Sky extended their winning streak to three games with a 78-75 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.

Off to the best start in their four-year history, the Sky (3-1) beat the Sun (1-3) for the third time in 12 meetings.

Perkins also had three rebounds and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, when Chicago overcame an eight-point deficit.

``She basically put our entire team on our back and brought us through,' Chicago coach Steven Key said. ``Her teammates rallied around her and got the rebounds for her and got her the ball when necessary. When you have a special one-on-one player like that who can get a shot off and they're going in, it puts a lot of pressure on the other team.'

The Sky took a 76-75 lead on Sylvia Fowles' jumper with 58 seconds left, and Erin Thorn added two free throws 25 seconds later to finish the scoring.

``We got some good rebounds, hit some clutch free throws and played great defense,' Perkins said. ``I think it says a lot for our defense that whenever they needed a shot they couldn't get one up.'

The Sun led 71-63 with 6:13 to play after Tamika Whitmore hit the second of a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers. Perkins responded with a 3 and added two free throws in a 43 second span.

``With two minutes to play I was a little tired,' Perkins said. ``But I wanted to stay in because it was such a crucial time, and just being out there would have made a difference.'

Whitmore and Asjha Jones paced Connecticut with 16 points apiece. Erin Phillips added 13.

``We missed shots down the stretch, the same shots we were making earlier,' said Jones, who led her team with five rebounds. ``They increased their defensive pressure and got some turnovers. (And) they got offensive rebounds, they got five in the fourth quarter alone ... and they got a lot of their points off that.'

Fowles had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Dominique Canty added nine points and five rebounds.

The Sky had their other three-game winning streak in July 2007. Chicago has a winning record for the first time since June 2007 when the team was 6-5.
