Comets 75, Fever 61
 

HOUSTON (AP) -Matee Ajavon scored a season-high 24 points, tying a Houston rookie record, and the Comets pulled away in the fourth quarter for their fourth straight win, 75-61 over the Indiana Fever on Saturday night.

After the Fever (7-8) cut the lead to four on Alison Bales' 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter, Houston went on a 19-3 run to up the lead to 73-53 on Michelle Snow's two free throws with 1:49 remaining. Sancho Lyttle scored seven points in the run, and Snow netted six.

Ajavon tied the Houston rookie record set by Tina Thompson against Cleveland on July 29, 1997, the WNBA's inaugural season. Thompson missed her second straight game with a fractured left ring finger.

Ajavon scored 13 of the Comets' 19 points in the second quarter as Houston (7-8) took a 39-29 lead into halftime. Ajavon scored the first seven points of the quarter, and Mistie Williams' layup with 7:24 remaining capped a 9-0 run and gave Houston its largest lead of the half at 29-14.

Lyttle added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Comets, and Snow had 12 points and six boards. Hamchetou Maiga-Ba scored 10 points for the Comets, who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Fever dating to 2006.

Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 13 points, and Tameka Catchings added 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting. Indiana committed 26 turnovers, which Houston turned into 29 points.
