Opening line: Marquette -1.5; Over/Under 156
Time: 6:30 p.m. ET Saturday (FOX)

UPDATE 5 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Ninety minutes pre-tip, Marquette is a 2-point chalk in WynnBet's Big East Tournament betting market. That matches the overnight opening number, though there have been a few juice adjustments. The Golden Eagles were -2 (-105) at open, peaked at -2 (-115) this morning and are now -2 (-112), with Xavier +2 (-104).

Spread ticket count is just beyond 2/1 and money just shy of 2/1 on underdog Xavier. However, Marquette (-135) is seeing 79% of tickets/57% of cash on the moneyline.

The total opened at 154, dipped to 153 late this morning and is now back at the 154 opener. The Over is netting 71% of tickets, while 64% of money is on the Under.

UPDATE 10:45 A.M. ET SATURDAY: Marquette landed on BetMGM's Big East odds board at -1.5 (-115) earlier morning, and the line jumped to Golden Eagles -2.5 (-105) in the past 30 minutes.

Point-spread tickets and money are running about 2.5/1 on Marquette so far. BetMGM sports trader Christian Cipollini noted it's early, with nearly eight hours until tipoff, so the liability isn't that much.

Conference tourney futures betting also isn't an issue for BetMGM.

"Right now, either Marquette or Xavier is good," Cipollini said.

BetMGM opened the total at 154.5 and is down a point to 153.5. Early ticket count is 4/1 and early cash nearly 9/1 on the Under.

UPDATE 12:30 A.M. ET SATURDAY: Marquette and fourth-seeded UConn played a screamer of a semifinal that ended with something of a thud. At halftime, the contest was tied at 38, then the Golden Eagles built a 56-46 lead over the first few minutes of the second half.

However, the favored Huskies stormed back and got a bucket with 2:37 remaining to pull with 70-68. Stunningly, neither team scored the rest of the way. So the Golden Eagles advanced 70-68 and cashed as 4.5-point underdogs.

Marquette (27-6 SU, 20-12-1 ATS)) has won eight in a row SU and is 13-1 SU (8-6 ATS) in its last 14 outings.

Xavier didn't have nearly as much trouble as Marquette. The Musketeers (25-8 SU, 18-14-1 ATS) boatraced Creighton 82-60 catching 3.5 points in the late semi. Xavier enters the final on a five-game win streak (3-2 ATS), which followed a 1-3 SU skid (2-2 ATS).

Caesars opened Marquette -1.5, with a total of 156. The spread was stable late Friday/early Saturday, but the total inched down to 155.5. Check back throughout the day Saturday for updates on odds, action and betting splits.

Marquette and Xavier split their regular-season meetings, with the home team winning SU and the Musketeers cashing in both contests.
