The Jimmy V Classic is one of the more notable events in the college basketball holiday tournament schedule.

The two betting matchups on Tuesday night’s Jimmy V schedule at Madison Square Garden start with Texas Tech squaring off against the No. 1 Louisville Cardinals. Later that night from New York City, Indiana will tangle with the Huskies of Connecticut.

Betting Matchup

Wednesday’s 65-60 overtime loss to DePaul as 1 ½-point road favorites was the Red Raiders’ third loss in a row both straight-up and against the spread. This followed a 5-0 SU start while going 4-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in three of the last five games. Freshman guard Jahmi’us Ramsey has missed his last two games and remains questionable after injuring his hamstring in a loss to Iowa on Nov. 28. He is the team’s leading scorer this season with 17.3 points per game. Texas Tech is averaging 79.0 PPG and allowing an average of 65.1 points on defense.

The Cardinals held onto the top spot in the national polls with wins over Michigan and Pittsburgh both SU and ATS as favorites this past week. They are now a perfect 9-0 SU on the year. They have also covered in their last three games to improve to 5-4 ATS. The total stayed UNDER 129 ½ points in Friday’s 64-46 victory against Pitt and it has stayed UNDER in four of Louisville’s last five contests. Junior forward Jordan Nwora continues to lead the way in scoring with 21.6 PPG. He posted 22 points with 12 rebounds in his team’s big win over Michigan before scoring 19 points against Pitt.

Betting Trends

-- The Red Raiders had covered in nine of their previous 11 games before this current three-game slide ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games with a total line of 144 ½ points or less.

-- The Cardinals are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against the Big 12 and the total has stayed UNDER in eight of their last nine December games.

-- This will be the first meeting between these two teams.

Betting Matchup

Indiana’s SU eight-game winning streak to start the season came to an end on Saturday with an 84-64 loss to Wisconsin in its Big Ten opener as a sight 1 ½-point road favorite. The Hoosiers slipped to 6-3 ATS and the total has gone OVER in seven of their first nine games. Indiana is four deep in players averaging at lead 13 PPG. Senior guard Devonte Green leads the way with 14.8 points while shooting 51.8 percent from the field. He was held to 10 points while shooting just 37.5 percent in Saturday’s 20-point loss.

The AAC’s Huskies are 6-2 SU with a profitable 7-1 record ATS after beating Iona 80-62 last Wednesday as 13-point home favorites. They have covered in their last six games. The total stayed UNDER 145 ½ points in that win and it has stayed UNDER in five of Connecticut’s last six games. Josh Carlton scored 19 points with 12 rebounds to lead the way against Iona. Senior guard Christian Vital had 16 points in that game and he is the Huskies’ leading scorer on the year with 14.8 PPG while averaging 8.3 rebounds a game.

-- The Hoosiers have covered ATS in six of their last seven games played on Tuesday. Going back to last March, the total has gone OVER in 11 of their last 15 games.

-- The Huskies are 6-2 SU in their last eight Tuesday games. The total has stayed UNDER nine of their last 10 games against the Big Ten.

-- Connecticut has a 6-2 SU edge against Indiana in the last six meetings going back to 1995. The last matchup was in 2013 with the Huskies squeezing out a 59-58 victory as three-point favorites. The total stayed UNDER 159 ½ points.
