NCAA Basketball Monday's Betting Preview and Odds for ACC and Big 12 Matchups

As the college basketball regular season continues to draw to a close, Monday night’s featured matchups on ESPN are a pair of in-state rivalry games in the ACC and Big 12.

The early game pits the North Carolina State Wolfpack against the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils in Durham. Later that night, the No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to Waco to face the No. 2 Baylor Bears.

Betting Matchup

The Wolfpack curtailed a brief two-game straight-up slide with Saturday’s 77-73 home victory against Pittsburgh. They failed to cover as 8 ½-point favorites to fall to 1-4 against the spread over their last five games. One of NC State’s biggest wins of the season was an 88-66 romp over Duke on Feb. 19 as a 6 ½-point home underdog. It is 9-9 SU in ACC play and 18-11 (13-15-1 ATS) overall.

The total has gone OVER in five of the Wolfpack’s last seven contests.

Backup forward Jericole Hellems’ 16 points sparked the win against Pitt. Senior guard CJ Bryce also scored 16 points with eight rebounds.

Saturday’s 52-50 setback against Virginia was Duke’s third SU loss in its last four games. It failed to cover the 3 ½ points on the road to sink to 2-6 ATS in its last eight outings. The total stayed well UNDER 123 ½-points in that loss after going OVER in the previous four games. The Blue Devils (23-6 SU, 14-15 ATS) are 13-5 SU in conference play and a game out of first place in the standings.


Freshman center Vernon Carey Jr. is averaging 17.6 points and 8.8 rebounds a game. He had 17 points with 10 rebounds in Saturday’s losing effort.

-- The Wolfpack are 2-8 SU in their last 10 road games as underdogs with an even 5-5 record ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven games on the road as underdogs.

-- The Blue Devils have gone 13-2 SU at home this season as favorites with an 8-7 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in six of their last seven home games as favorites.

-- NC State has won three of the last four meetings SU and it has covered in its last six games against Duke. The total went OVER in all six of those games and in eight of the last nine matchups.

Betting Matchup

Texas Tech has lost three of its last five games SU with Saturday’s 68-58 loss at home to Texas as an 11 ½-point favorite. It is 1-4 ATS during the same span with the total going OVER in five of its last six contests. The Red Raiders are 18-11 SU with a 13-16 record ATS. They are 9-7 SU in Big 12 play.

Averaging 72.4 points per game, they have been held to fewer than 60 points in each of their last two games. Freshman guard Jahmi’us Ramsey (15.5 PPG) has 13 combined points in those two outings.

After suffering their second loss (SU and ATS) in their last three games, the Bears are 14-2 in conference play and a game in back of Kansas in the Big 12 standings. Baylor (25-3 SU, 18-10 ATS) is an even 4-4 ATS over its last eight games. The total is an even 4-4 as well after going OVER in the last two games.

The Bears gave up an 18-1 run to TCU in Saturday’s 75-72 loss as nine-point road favorites. Early in the season, they squeezed past the Red Raiders 57-52 as 3 ½-point road underdogs.

-- The Bears are 13-1 SU in 14 home games this season as favorites with an even 7-7 mark ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their last eight games at home giving points.

-- With the earlier win, Baylor is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four games against Texas Tech. The total has stayed UNDER in three of the last five games between the two.
