Tuesday's betting board in the Big Ten offers a pair of games that will have a direct impact on the regular season conference title.

First up, the No. 9 Maryland Terrapins will be on the road against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The other game on the slate sends the No. 24 Michigan State Spartans to State College to tangle with the No. 16 Penn State Nittany Lions.

The Terrapins are holding a slim one-game lead over Michigan State for the Big Ten regular season title with two games left to play. Saturday’s 78-66 loss to the Spartans as slight two-point home favorites did not help the cause.

Maryland slipped to 13-5 straight-up in conference play with two SU losses in its last three outings. It is now just 2-5-1 against the spread over the last eight games. The overall SU record this season 23-6 with a 14-14-1 record ATS.

The total has gone OVER in the last four games with a points-allowed average of 74.25 verse 63.8 points on the year.

Rutgers’ major slide down the stretch run of the regular season continued with last Thursday’s 65-64 loss to Penn State as a 4 ½-point road underdog. Going back to the beginning of February, the Scarlet Knights (18-11 SU, 17-10-1 ATS) are 2-6 SU with a 3-5 record ATS.

The total has gone OVER in four of the last six games. One of those recent losses was against Maryland on the road as 7 ½-point underdogs. Rutgers did cover in the 56-51 loss.

Offensive output has dogged this team recently with an average of 64.5 points through the last eight games. The season scoring average is now 69.6 points per game.

Betting Matchup

The Spartans have won their last three games SU with Saturday’s upset win. This was just the second time they covered the spread in their last eight games. They are 12-6 SU in conference play as part of an overall record of 20-9 (13-16 ATS).

Michigan State stumbled at home 75-70 as an 8 ½-point favorite in the first game against the Lions on Feb. 4. The total stayed UNDER 145 ½ points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in four of the last seven outings.

Cassius Winston ended Saturday’s game with 20 points. The highlight was a 60-foot buzzer beater to close the first half.

Penn State (11-7) has lost some ground in both the national rankings and the Big Ten standings with one SU win in its last four games while going 0-4 ATS. The latest setback was Saturday’s 77-68 road loss to Iowa as a 4 ½-point road underdog.

The total has stayed UNDER in the Lions’ last five games. They are 21-8 SU on the year with a 15-12-2 record ATS. Penn State was outscored by a combined 23 points over its last four contests while averaging 62.3 PPG. The lone highlight was the one-point win against Rutgers on Feb. 26.
