Michigan as been opened as an -11-point home favorite for Tuesday night with the betting line on the game’s total set at 141.5 points.

The Terrapins are 2-6 straight-up in Big Ten play but coming off a big road upset over Illinois on Jan. 10 as +10.5-point underdogs. This was just the third time they covered against the spread in their past nine outings.

The total has gone OVER in five of their last seven games. Maryland is 1-4 ATS in its last five games against Michigan and it has lost five of the last six meetings SU. The total has gone OVER in eight of its last 12 road games overall.

The Wolverines dropped from the ranks of the unbeaten with Saturday’s lopsided 18-point loss to Minnesota as -5.5-point road favorites. This was the first time they failed to cover in their last six games.

The total has now stayed UNDER in five of their last seven outings. Michigan has a 10-game SU winning streak at home. The total has gone OVER in four of its last five games against the Terrapins.

Betting Analysis – Maryland Terrapins

Maryland was on the wrong side of an 84-73 loss to Michigan as a +2.5-point home underdog on Dec. 31. The total went OVER 142.5 points. On a brighter note, Darryl Morsell and Donta Scott combined for 35 points in the upset over Illinois.

Guard Eric Ayala leads the team in points (14.0) but he has been ruled as ‘out’ for Tuesday night with a groin injury. Another big part of the Terrapins’ offense is guard Aaron Wiggins with 12.6 points per game while also leading the team in assists (3.1).

Maryland is scoring an average of 73.7 points a game while connecting on 47.5% of its shots from the field. This drops to 37.3% beyond the three-point line.

Total rebounds add up to 34.8 with almost all of them coming on the defensive end of the court. The Terrapins are giving up an average of 67.4 PPG.

You can chalk up Saturday’s loss to an off-night after beating Minnesota by 25 points at home on Jan. 6. Michigan still remains the most complete team in the Big Ten based on its early resume.

Center Hunter Dickinson is the Wolverines’ most dominant player with 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds a game. Forward Isaiah Livers (13.6 points) and guard Franz Wagner (12.1) are two more key contributors to the team’s 79.9-point scoring average this season.

One injury of note, guard Eli Brooks remains questionable for Tuesday with a foot injury. Michigan continues to shoot the ball extremely well with a 51.4 field-goal percentage.

This number does drop to 36.4% from three-point range. The Wolverines are pulling down 40 rebounds and holding teams to 66.6 PPG.

Maryland-Michigan Predictions

Maryland should be able to put up a decent fight through the first half of Tuesday’s rematch but the gap on the scoreboard will continue to widen in the second 20 minutes of the game.

The Wolverines will be highly motivated to return to form coming off a sloppy loss. Look for Michigan to extend its SU winning streak at home while also covering the spread.

As far as betting the total line, my lean would be towards the OVER on the current number. That has been the prevalent trend in recent meetings and Michigan will go a long way towards taking this matchup OVER on its own.
