Betting Analysis – Florida Gators

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 10-5
  • ATS: 8-7
  • SU - Home: 6-2
  • SU - Away: 4-3
  • O/U: 9-6

The Florida Gators enter this game after losing at home to South Carolina. Despite leading at halftime, the Gators were only able to score 26 total second half points.

The usual suspects of Tre Mann, Colin Castleton, and Noah Locke all played well scoring 11 points or more in the game. However, star Scottie Lewis was only able to score one point on 0-for-4 for shooting in 14 minutes played. His only point came off of one made free-throw, and he missed the other. Needless to say, Lewis will have to step up if Florida plans to keep pace with the Tigers’ offense.

Prior to the lost to South Carolina, Florida won four straight games which includes wins over Tennessee and West Virginia. The Gators score 77.5 points per game, which ranks 60th in the nation. They also hold the 70th best offensive rating in the nation at 107.9. This team can score with LSU, and has shown they can win big games.

There is a bit of a road concern with Florida however, as the Gators have lost games to FSU, Alabama and Mississippi State - all on the road. However, Florida was able to score 85 points in Morgantown against a pretty good West Virginia defense.

Will Florida be able to keep pace with LSU’s high powered offense, while playing on the road? They should.

Florida features for different players who average a double-digit point total. The Gators also hit the 89th-most free throws per game in the nation, the 56th-most two pointers per game, the 63rd-most field goals per game and hold the 45th-best three-point percentage in the nation.

The defense isn’t too bad either, despite giving up just over 70 points per game. Florida averages 7.5 steals per game, which ranks 78th in the nation. Most impressively, however, Florida averages 6.3 blocks per game. That total ranks first in the nation, as LSU has pretty abysmal rim protection on defense. Expect Florida to exploit the inside paint and take advantage of their 39.3 two-pointers attempted per game, which ranks 77th in the nation.

Betting Analysis – LSU Tigers

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 11-6
  • ATS: 6-11
  • SU - Home: 9-2
  • SU - Away: 2-4
  • O/U: 10-6-1

LSU is in free-fall mode currently. The Tigers have dropped four of their last five games, including back-to-back losses to Texas Tech and Alabama.

The Crimson Tide are actually responsible for two of the four losses. Now LSU looks to get back on track at home. A main reason why LSU has lost four of five games is because the offense has seemingly disappeared.

The Tigers average 81.5 points per game, whichranks 24th in the nation. However, LSU has failed to score over 75 points in their four losses. What makes LSU dangerous is the offense, so when they’re not scoring it’s tough for Will Wade<.strong>'s group to win.

It’s tough to see the offense continue to sputter, as LSU has four different players average over 12 points a game. Freshman Cameron Thomas averages over 20 points per game, while both Trendon Watford and Javonte Smart both average over 15 points a game.

The Tigers are winless in games where Smart has four assists or less, as he has seen his average drop below four dimes per game. He has only seen one total assist in his last two games, and has only seen eight total assists in the four losses LSU has seen recently. He needs to step up as a facilitator to get everyone on the Tigers' offense in rhythm.
