Texas Tech-Kansas Betting Odds

  • Spread: Kansas -2
  • Money-Line: TBD
  • Total: 133.5

Odds Subject to Change

Kansas has been set as a slight two-point home favorite for Saturday’s matchup with the betting line for the total opening at 133.5 points. Texas Tech has been idle since losing to West Virginia on Feb. 9 by 11 points as a six-point home favorite. It is 6-5 straight-up in Big 12 play with a 2-9 record against the spread.

The total has gone OVER in three of its last five games. The Red Raiders opened Big 12 play this season with a one-point loss to Kansas as three-point home favorites. They are 2-8 SU in the last 10 meetings with the series tied 5-5 ATS. The total has gone OVER in seven of those 10 games.

Kansas has strung together four wins in a row (SU and ATS) to improve to 10-5 SU in conference play. It has now covered ATS in five of its last six contests.

The Jayhawks have a SU five-game winning streak at home while covering in the last three at Allen Fieldhouse. The total went OVER in four of their last seven home games.

Betting Analysis – Texas Tech Red Raiders

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 14-6
  • ATS: 7-13
  • SU - Home: 9-4
  • SU - Away: 5-2
  • O/U: 14-6

Texas Tech has slipped to sixth place in the conference standings with everyone chasing Baylor. The previous loss to West Virginia did not help the cause.

As far as Saturday’s matchup, the Red Raiders have four players averaging at least 10 points per game led by guard Mac McClung. He is scoring an average of 17.2 PPG while shooting 43.3% from the field and 34.3% from three-point range.

Guard Kevin McCullar and forward Marcus Santos-Silva have combined to average 12.7 rebounds a game. As a team, Texas Tech is averaging 74.3 points and 35.8 rebounds a game. It is connecting on 43.6% of its shots from the field and 34.0% from three-point range.

Defensively, the Red Raiders are holding opposing teams to a solid 62.7 points a game. This includes holding Kansas to 58 points in the first meeting.

Betting Analysis – Kansas Jayhawks

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 16-7
  • ATS: 11-11
  • SU - Home: 10-1
  • SU - Away: 6-6
  • O/U: 12-10

The Jayhawks are starting to resemble the team that has dominated the Big 12 with Bill Self as their head coach. The four-game win streak is their longest since reeling off eight victories in a row much earlier in the season.

Forward Jalen Wilson and guard Marcus Garrett paced Wednesday’s win over Kansas State with a combined 25 points. Guard Ochai Agbaji leads a list of five players scoring in double figures this season with 13.7 PPG. Wilson leads in rebounds (7.9) and Garrett leads in assists (3.6).

Kansas is scoring an average of 74 PPG that is filled with extremes during this winning streak. After posting 97 points against Iowa State at home on Feb. 11, it worked out a 64-50 win against the Cyclones on the road last Saturday. The Jayhawks only scored 59 points in Wednesday’s road win at Kansas State. Their average points allowed this season are 66.2 with 38.2 rebounds a game.

Texas Tech-Kansas Predictions

While Texas Tech is ranked higher, Kansas could still make a big move in the rankings with a strong finish to the regular season. With Texas on the road and Baylor at home coming up, I have the Jayhawks making a statement at home this Saturday afternoon to cover with relative ease.

I also have the total going OVER the current line. Kansas has turned to its defense when playing on the road. When playing at home, the offense tends to play a much bigger role.

  • Score Prediction: Kansas 74 Texas Tech 66
  • Best Bets: Kansas -2
  • Best Bets: OVER
