MICHIGAN WOLVERINES VS. INDIANA HOOSIERS PREDICTIONS

The Wolverines of Michigan picked up a much-needed 83-64 victory in Ann Arbor as eight-point favorites as the OVER connected on Friday night. Michigan snapped a three-game losing streak. The Wolverines shot an impressive 58% from the field, or 35-of-60, while connecting on 40% from behind the 3-point line, or 8-of-20. Surprisingly, the Wolverines went to the free-throw line just five times, hitting each attempt. Not surprisingly, Michigan took good care of the ball, turning it over just eight times while outrebounding Maryland 25-16.

The Hoosiers scored a huge victory over rival Purdue last time out on Thursday, cashing as a 3.5-point underdog in the 68-65 win as the UNDER hit. Indiana shot just 43% from the floor, or 24-of-56, while knocking down 30%, or 6-of-20, from behind the arc. The Hoosiers made things a lot harder on themselves by going just 14-of-24, or 58%, from the free-throw line. The Boilermakers outrebound the Hoosiers by a 34-26 margin. However, the Hoosiers had just two total turnovers to 12 for the visitors, and that was perhaps the biggest difference.

MICHIGAN WOLVERINES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 8-7
  • ATS: 6-9
  • O/U: 8-7

Michigan slapped the brakes on an 0-3 SU/ATS skid with its win over Maryland last time out. It's been a trying season for Juwan Howard's bunch, and the Wolverines have just one instance of covers in consecutive games, wins over San Diego State at home and Nebraska on the road from Dec. 4-7. They're 2-4 ATS across the past six games overall, and the Wolverines are 1-4 SU/ATS in five true road games so far this season. The OVER is 3-2 in the five road games to date.

A game against Indiana might be just what Michigan needs to stay on track. The Wolverines have won and covered eight consecutive meetings dating back to Indiana's last win on Feb. 2, 2016, an 80-67 victory in Ann Arbor. The UNDER has cashed in six of the past nine meetings with the Hoosiers, too.

The OVER is 3-1 in the past four games for the Wolverines, and 6-2 in the past eight meetings overall. The OVER is also 5-1 in six conference games to date, while going 2-1 in three road contests inside the league.

INDIANA HOOSIERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 14-4
  • ATS: 11-7
  • O/U: 7-11

For Indiana, it will be looking for consecutive covers after winning outright as a 'dog against Purdue. The Hoosiers have posted an impressive 6-3 ATS mark across the past nine games overall. At home, the Hoosiers have been red-hot, covering in nine consecutive games at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and Indiana's last setback on its home floor was the home finale on Feb. 27, 2021 against, yep, Michigan.

As far as the totals, the OVER has connected in three of the past four games, while the UNDER is 9-4 in the past 13 games at home for the Hoosiers.

Indiana is 10-3 ATS in the past 13 games as a favorite. (AP)

MICHIGAN WOLVERINES VS. INDIANA HOOSIERS BETTING CONCLUSION

The Wolverines have had a tremendous recent history against the Hoosiers, and facing a team which they have had a lot of success might be just what the doctor ordered. Michigan has won eight in a row against Indiana, and it's the last team to win in Bloomington. But past history and current history are two different animals.

Michigan is just not playing good basketball right now, while Indiana is coming off an emotional win over rival Purdue last time out. The Hoosiers have been unbeatable at home this season, and it's hard to envision the Wolverines snapping out of their funk against a red-hot team to take down the Hoosiers, no matter what the trends and recent history might suggest. Roll with Indiana at home, as they're looking like an NCAA Tournament team, which Michigan might be lucky to qualify for the NIT at this rate.
