Ole Miss Rebels vs. Tennessee Volunteers Predictions

The Rebels score points and rack up yards. I’m not even sure Lane Kiffin knows he has a defense. He’s well aware of his QB Matt Corral and just how dangerous this kid can be. It’s not easy to go through five games of the season and not throw an interception, especially if one of those games is against Alabama.

This simply comes down to who on the Vols is going to slow down Corral in the air, and then on the ground. The Rebels QB totaled 20 TDs with 8 on the ground. It doesn’t matter to anyone on Ole Miss where this game is played, as their 3 rd ranked offense travels just fine.

The Vols aren’t dead yet but may have a small sense of inflated ego after their recent run. The game can be sliced down the middle with one side being how well Ole Miss fought Bama, and the other side being how well UT looked against inferior opponents.

UT is fully behind QB Hendon Hooker – who has developed into a dual-threat for the Vols. Their defense is actually better – although marginally – than Ole Miss and cause more turnovers than the Rebels. Tennessee’s offense is starting to click and has fired up the rankings in the SEC, but they still can’t keep up with the Rebels.

Ole Miss Rebels Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-1
  • ATS: 2-2-1
  • O/U: 3-2
  • ATS - Home: 2-1-1
  • ATS - Away: 0-1

Did we mention Corral? The Heisman favorite just fueled an offensive attack netting 52 points off over 600 yards. It’s ridiculous how easy it is for this team to score, averaging just over 560 total yards per-game. Corral has 12 scores in the air and eight on the ground, but is not doing it alone – although he is one of four Rebels with over 200 yards rushing.

Henry Parrish Jr. leads the team with 333 yards on the ground, followed by two other backs with over 200 yards. Corral has the rushing TDs and 255 yards on the ground. That’s not even counting the damage they do in the air, led by Dontario Drummond’s 460 receiving yards and 5 TDs. UT has their offense cranking, but not like this.

Tennessee Volunteers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-2
  • ATS: 3-3
  • O/U: 4-2
  • ATS - Home: 2-2
  • ATS - Away: 1-1

Making a change at QB was the best thing to happen to UT. Hooker fit right in, throwing for over 1000 yards and an impressive 13:1 TD-to-INT ratio. Their offense doesn’t just rely on big throws from Hooker, as Tiyon Evans has big play written all over him. Evans has six scores including a 92-yard run.

Hooker – like Corral – is one of his team’s leading rushers, so expect Hooker to move around, by design or escape. We still don’t know if UT beating up on worse opponents will catch up to them against Ole Miss. We do know the Vols are going to have to be even faster and more impressive on offense to keep up.

The Tennessee Volunteers have gone UNDER the point total in nine of their last 12 games when playing in Knoxville. (AP)

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Tennessee Volunteers Betting Conclusion

In three games this year we’ve seen an average of 60 points scored at Neyland Stadium. Most of the bullying has been done by the Vols, but that should stop this Saturday. Neither team’s defense is anything to highlight – which hurts UT’s chances of winning this game.

If their defense was notable against the pass or simply lockdown against the run, maybe they slow the Rebels down. Both teams score at an incredibly fast rate – which benefits the team with the better overall offense. Ole Miss survives the shootout.
