The Belmont Stakes is normally the third and final leg of the “Triple Crown”, and takes place at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. However, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Belmont Stakes has been rescheduled and will be run on Saturday, June 20 as the first leg of the "Triple Crown". The race will feature the top three-year-old horses in the world.

The 2020 installment will be 1 1/8 miles instead of the 1 1/2-mile ''test of the champion'' that has been the race's trademark for almost a century.

Although the field and post positions have not been finalize yet, the results of the Kentucky Derby Prep Schedule that have already taken place give us an idea of which horses will participate and what their odds may be.

Types of Horse Bets

• Win: Pays for the horse that finishes 1st in the race
• Place: Pays for the horses that finish 1st and 2nd in the race
• Show: Pays for the horses that finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the race
• Exacta: Pays for picking the horses that finish 1st and 2nd in exact order
• Trifecta: Pays for picking the horses that finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in exact order
• Superfecta: Pays for picking the horses that finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in exact order

The odds and payouts will vary depending on the horses odds and the difficulty of winning the bet. For example, a Show bet can win on three different outcomes, so the payout will be lower than a Win bet, which only pays out a 1st place outcome. Exacta, Trifecta, and Superfecta will also all payout more than a single horse bet.

When betting Exacta, Trifecta, or Superfecta, you have the option to bet the order straight, do a Box Bet, or do a Wheel Bet. A Box Bet allows you to select the horses you think will finish 1st and 2nd and gives you all possible outcomes regardless of their order of finish. A Wheel Bet is when you pick one horse to finish is a specific spot (usually 1st) and then you get all possible outcomes of the rest of the order. Since these bets require multiple tickets, the price will be more expensive but you still have the same larger payout as you would on a straight bet.
