At the Gate – Friday

Winds knocked out racing on Thursday at Aqueduct but we will be back in action on Friday as the weather is on the improve.

We have a stakes race, the $100,000 Interborough, which as originally scheduled for Monday, but frigid temperatures wiped out that card.

A field of eight fillies and mares will go seven furlongs with Dawn the Destroyer the 2-1 morning line favorite. Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, she is coming off a sharp win versus second level optional claimers, but it looks as if there are a couple of foes that may end up offering better value.

One of those is Yorkiepoo Princess. The mare set the early fractions and could not hold off Vertical Oak late in a runner up finish in the Garland of Roses in her last outing.

Don’t forget the big day we have on Saturday with a 12-race card at Gulfstream Park. The feature is the $9 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1). There are nine stakes on the card including the $7 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1).

The Pegasus World Cup Turf is not getting as much ink but may be a better wagering race. A field of 10 line up led by Yoshida, who is back on turf after a fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). He was beaten just 1 ¾ lengths as my top pick in the Classic at 14-1.

Among his turf wins was the Old Forrester Turf Classic (G1) last May at Churchill Downs.

Three in the field are fillies or mares including the Aiden O’Brien trained Magic Wand, who was fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1).

I will be doing the entire Gulfstream Park card for Saturday and will have it posted under the Multi-Track section.

Now is the perfect time to purchase my Monthly Package for just $99.95. It gives you a month of Aqueduct daily and my Best Plays Report each Saturday and Sunday.

Here is the opener from Aqueduct to get the day off to a good start:

AQU Race 1 Md $40,000 (12:25 ET)
#4 Racing Raven 5-2
#8 Hot Sriracha 7-5
#7 Party On Prospect 4-1
#2 Broker's Reward 8-1

Analysis: Racing Raven caught a muddy track on his return off the bench. he tracked thee early pace and finished evenly in a third-place finish. He showed some ability last year with a couple of seconds in his second and third career start. He should move forward second off the bench for the Levin barn. He is out of an Elusive Quality mare that has dropped three other foals to race, all winners, top earner stakes winner Lost Raven ($359,050).

Hot Sriracha has been the beaten chalk in three of his last four starts, his last two at 4-5. Last out he was no match for a 7 1/2 length winner while nearly four lengths clear of the rest of the field, Blinkers go on as he makes his second start off the claim by the Englehart barn. A bullet breeze on the morning tab since his last start. The barn is 20% winners when adding the hood.

Today’s Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:

AQU Race 8 The Interborough (3:58 ET)
#2 Yorkiepoo Princess 4-1
#8 Your Love 3-1
#5 Dawn the Destroyer 2-1
#3 Sower 5-1

Analysis: Yorkiepoo Princess set the early fractions and battled on until late in a runner up finish last out in the Garland of Roses at six furlongs. She earned a career top two back in a sharp win in the off the turf Autumn Days here over a wet track. She has a win and a second in three trips at seven furlongs and owns a solid pace rifle throughout. A couple of sharp works since her last outing and the 4-1 morning line looks fair enough.

Your Love tossed in a dud last out going a mile in the Go for Wand 'Cap (G3) versus tougher than these. The mare was a game second two back in the Gallant Bloom 'Cap (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs. She won the restricted Shine Again at the Spa going seven panels. The Brown barn is 23% winners moving runners from route to sprint and this gal is much better than she showed last out.
