Friday’s Picks from Aqueduct

I mentioned yesterday that I thought the Late Pick 5 was the best option on the Aqueduct card and things were going quite well until we got to the nightcap.

With my top pick winning two races and my second choice winning the other two I was sitting pretty well in the Pick 5 as well as the Pick 4 as we got to the final leg of the sequence.

What I was not counting on was such a big effort from 20-1 longshot Larceny, who held off my third choice Number One Option and my second choice Brees Bayou, winning by 1 ½ lengths and returning $43.60.

The Late Pick 4 paid $542.75 and the Pick 5 returned $3,723.25 each on a .50 cent ticket and I got nothing.

Back to the drawing board today and we have another eight race card so the early and late Pick 5’s overlap.

Coming up on Saturday the feature at the Big A is the $100,000 Say Florida Sandy which unfortunately drew a small field of just five. Funny Guy is the 3-5 morning line favorite.

In addition, we will head out to Gulfstream Park on Saturday where the feature is the $100,000 Tropical Park Derby (G3) which drew a field of nine that will travel one mile on the grass.

The Chad Brown trained Analyze It is the 2-1 morning line favorite. The six-year-old only made two starts last year, winning the Red Bank (G3) at Monmouth Park off the bench and then was eighth in the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) at Keeneland. He was beaten just ¾ of a length when third in the 2018 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1).

You can stream the action from Aqueduct today on YouTube or by using the TVG App. The horse betting company based in the U.S. is offering a 50% deposit match up to $250 . In addition, AmWager is offering up to a $500 bonus for new horseplayers.

AQUEDUCT RACE 1 ANALYSIS (12:50 P.M. ET)

Race 1 Md $25,000

  • #1 Speechin N Teachin 10-1
  • #8 Lotsnlotsofchrome 3-1
  • #3 Romantic Man 4-1
  • #2 Black Limo 6-1

Analysis: Speechin N Teachin drops out of a $50,000 maiden claimer in his debut where he was sent off at 9-2. The colt stalked the early pace and faded to finish a well beaten fifth. He returns with lasix added and blinkers. He draws the rail and picks up Morales. I am hoping the jock shows speed breaking from the rail and the addition of the hood may help him with that and there really is not much early zip signed up to go here. The Barker trainee is out of a Street Boss mare that has dropped one winner.

Lotsnlotsofchrome drops in for a tag after getting badly outrun in his first two career starts both routes. He returns a gelding and catches a much easier spot. The Nevin trainee is 25% winners (with a ROI) dropping runners from maiden special to maiden claiming. He is out of a Tiznow mare that has dropped two other foals to race, both winners, top earner stakes winner Extra Hope ($295,331).

AQUEDUCT RACE 6 ANALYSIS (3:20 P.M. ET)

Race 6 Md Sp Wt

  • #5 All Mo 9-2
  • #7 Inspiration Point 6-1
  • #6 The Reds 5-2
  • #1 Cost Average / 1a Carillo 7-2

Analysis: All Mo put in a decent effort in his debut. He chased the early pace and finished evenly in a third-place finish, beaten 3 3/4 lengths, sent off at 6-1 in a field of seven. The barn is much better with second outers than firsters, hitting at a 34% clip (with a +ROI). Lasix is added here on this guy was a $900,000 Keeneland purchase. He is out of a D'Wildcat mare that has dropped two other foals to race, both winners, top earner Fusaichi Red ($266,797).

Inspiration Point also makes his second start. The $725,000 Ocala purchase stalked the early pace and came up empty in the stretch in a fifth-place finish at 6-5. He gets lasix added for Pletcher who is 22% winners with second out maidens. He was working sharply leading up to his debut and may be worth giving another look here as his price is going to end up higher here. He is bred to handle the extra ground here. The barn is 24% winners moving runners from sprint to route.

LIVE LONGSHOTS

These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
