D.C. Under
The Washington Nationals will host the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, as LHP Tommy Milone will battle RHP Mike Foltznewicz in the third of a four-game set. The Braves have posted four consecutive under results when facing a southpaw starter, while the under is 4-1 in their past five against winning sides and 8-3 in their past 11 games overall. While that's very encouraging for under players, the over has been 21-9 in their past 30 games away from SunTrust Park and 5-2-1 in Foltynewicz's past eight assignments. However, the under is 8-3-3 in Folty's past 14 outings against National League East clubs, including 4-1-1 across his past six versus the Nats. The under is also 8-3-1 in the past 12 meetings overall between these division rivals.

For the Nationals, the under has connected in four of their past five, including 4-1 in the past five at Nationals Park. The under is also an impressive 39-18 across their past 57 against right-handed starting pitchers and 11-5 in their past 16 in Game 3 of a series. In addition, the under is 5-1 in their past six outings on Wednesday, for whatever that's worth. It's more worth noting rather than putting much stock into, as it's a rather arbitrary trend. Under bettors might feel more comfortable knowing Greg Gibson will be the home-plate umpire. The under is 7-1-1 in Gibson's past nine behind the plate in Atlanta games, while going 3-1-1 in his past five overall behind the dish. Of course, the over is also 5-1 in Gibson's past six for the Nationals behind home plate, so make of that what you will.

Looking Ahead

Wednesday, Aug. 8
The Orioles and Rays will battle at Tropicana Field, and the over has been the rule for the O's lately. The over is 8-2 in their past 10 games overall while going 5-1 in the past six inside the division. In addition, the over is 5-0 in their past five against a team with a winning record, and 8-1 in their past nine vs. RHP. The over is also 4-0 in the past four starts by Andrew Cashner, although the under has connected in five of his past seven on the road. The under is also an impressive 18-5 in Baltimore's past 23 appearances on artificial surfaces. The under has hit in four of the past five at home for the Rays, while going 5-1 in Ryne Stanek's past six against divisional foes. The under is also 7-1-1 in Stanek's past nine showings at home. In addition, the under is 7-1 in the past eight meetings in St. Petersburg.

The Twins and Indians have had one over and one under in the first two games of their current series. Tuesday's contest was affected by a lengthy weather delay, so perhaps that threw off the timing of the bats. The over is still 4-1 in Minnesota's past five overall, and 4-1 in their past five inside the division. The over is also 4-1 in Jake Odorizzi's past five assignments. For the Tribe, the under is 6-2 in their past eight overall, and 4-1 in their past five against Central clubs. However, the over is 4-0-2 in the past six at home for Mike Clevinger, and 3-0-1 in his past four against teams with a losing overall mark.

It's a battle of left-handers in Oakland, as LHP Clayton Kershaw takes the bump for the Dodgers against LHP Brett Anderson for the A's. The under is 4-0 in L.A.'s past four on the road, and 9-2 across their past 11 interleague battles. The under is also 13-4-1 in their past 18 on the road vs. LHP. In addition, the under is 8-3 in their past 11 overall, and 5-2 in Kershaw's past seven away from home. For the A's, it's been all under all the time. The under is 4-0 in their past four, 5-0 in their past five vs. LHP and 6-1-1 in their past eight interleague home battles. The under is also 4-0 in Anderson's past four against teams with a winning overall record.

Betting On The Wind
There are no issues as far as the wind is concerned on Hump Day, although Cleveland will be the breeziest with a 10 mph wind blowing from left to right.

Thursday, Aug. 9
In Thursday's afternoon battle, the Twins and Indians battle in Cleveland. The under is 5-1 in Jose Berrios' past six starts on the road, and 9-4-2 in his past 15 away from home against a team with a winning overall mark. The over is actually 8-3-1 in Corey Kluber's past 12 starts at home, however, and 11-3-1 in his past 15 overall. The over is also 6-2 in Klubot's past eight at Progressive Field against the Twins.

Red Sox RHP Rick Porcello takes on Blue Jays rookie LHP Ryan Borucki. The over is 6-2 in Porcello's past eight on the road, while going 11-4-1 in his past 16 starts overall. The over is also 4-1 in Boston's past five against left-handed starting pitching, and 7-3 in their past 10 away from the Fens against teams with a losing overall record. The over has hit in 12 of the past 17 when Porcello is working on five days of rest, too. For the Jays, the over is 10-2 in the past 12 games overall heading into play Wednesday, while going 4-1 in their past five overall. The over is also 6-1 in the past seven against right-handed starting pitchers.

Friday, Aug. 10
Mets RHP Zack Wheeler takes the ball for the series opener in Miami. Wheeler enters the game with a 13-inning scoreless streak intact, and the 'under' is 2-0 in the past two outings as you would imagine. The Marlins will counter with RHP Jose Urena, and the over is 3-1 in his past four outings overall. However, the under is 4-2 across his past six at Marlins Park. The under cashed in Urena's only meeting against the Mets back on April 9, a 4-2 victory by New York in Miami.

Phillies RHP Zach Eflin will work against the Padres at Petco Park on Friday night. He has allowed three or fewer runs in nine of his past 10 starts, and the under is 7-3 during that span. In addition, the under is 4-1 over his past five outings on the road. The under will be tested, however, as Padres rookie LHP Joey Lucchesi is on the hill for the home side. He is 3-4 with a 4.21 ERA in 11 home assignments, allowing 11 of his 14 homers with a .255 opponent batting average. Lucchesi also has a 5.28 ERA in three outings since the All-Star break.
