Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees Betting Predictions
After falling to the Astros in the AL Championship last season, the Red Sox will have high expectations for this season. Boston lost both Kyle Schwarber and Hunter Renfroe to free agency, but many of the key players will return. The Red Sox also added All Star infielder Trevor Story from the Rockies to help fill the loss of Schwarber and Renfroe. The right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is expected to take the mound after going 11-9 last season with an ERA of 3.75 and 195 strikeouts.
The Yankees finished last season with 92 wins and a wild card berth, but the season ended in disappointment after losing to the Red Sox in the wild card game. New York already had a scary lineup and the addition of Josh Donaldson from the Twins will only make things more difficult for opposing pitchers. Right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole is expected to get the opening day start after going 16-8 last season with an ERA of 3.23 and 243 strikeouts.
What better way to kick off the baseball season than a little opening day Red Sox/Yankees matchup. I like the Yankees to cover at home in this one. Their lineup is stacked from top to bottom and with Gerrit Cole taking the mound, it could be a long day for the Red Sox. I also like the over 8 runs as the Yankees bats should be able to do quite a bit of damage

Boston Red Sox Betting Analysis
Boston finished last season with an ATS record of 92-81 The Red Sox have not seen recent success against the Yankees, going 1-6 SU in their last seven meetings with New York. The total went under in 86 of Boston’s 173 games played last season including eight of their last nine against American League opponents.
The Red Sox have just the 13th best odds to win the World Series at +2500. Boston has a talented lineup with the addition of All Trevor Story surrounding key players such as J.D Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, and Alex Verdugo. Another key player for the Red Sox will be Rafael Devers who had a great spring training, batting .385 with 6 HR’s and 12 RBI’s. Boston finished 4th in the MLB in scoring with an average of 5.14 runs per game.
Nathan Eovaldi is expected to get the opening day start for the Sox. Eovaldi was 11-9 last season with an ERA of 3.75 and recorded 195 strikeouts in 182.1 innings pitched. Eovaldi pitched in six games against the Yankees last season and gave up 14 runs in 32.2 innings pitched.
New York Yankees Betting Analysis
The Yankees had an ATS record of 76-87 last season, going 31-50 at home and 45-37 on the road. New York finished last season strong with a SU record of 9-4 in their last 13. The total went under in 88 of the Yankee’s 163 games played last season including four of their last six at home.
New York enters this season with the 9th best odds to win the World Series at +1300. The Yankees have arguably the most dangerous lineup in baseball with guys like Anthony Rizzo, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Joey Gallo, and newly added Josh Donaldson. With that deep of a lineup, it is somewhat surprising that the Yankees do not have better odds to win the World Series. New York finished 19th in scoring last season with an average of 4.37 runs per game.
Gerrit Cole is ready to go and will get the opening day start for the Yankees. Cole finished last season with an impressive 16-8 record with an ERA of 3.23 and 243 strikeouts in 181.1 innings pitched. Cole pitched in four games last season against the Red Sox and allowed 12 earned runs in 22 innings pitched.

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees Betting Conclusion
The Yankees will be out for revenge in this one after losing to the Red Sox in last year's wild card game. With the addition of Josh Donaldson New York’s lineup has become a borderline nightmare for opposing pitchers. Don’t count the Red Sox entirely as they too have a strong lineup, but I think the Yankees take this opening day by a couple of runs and manage to push the run total over 8.
