Atlanta Braves vs. San Diego Padres Betting Predictions

The Atlanta Braves have gotten off to a bit of a slow start after winning the World Series last season. The Braves won two of their first three games, but have since lost four of their last five.  The offense has looked inconsistent and the pitching needs improvement to say the least. Right-handed pitcher Ian Anderson is expected to take the mound on Saturday. Anderson has pitched in one game this season and allowed three hits, five earned runs, and struck out one batter in 2.2 innings pitched.

San Diego has started the season off right with a 5-3 record. The Padres won four of their first five games, but have since lost last two of three. The Padres looked great in their first matchup against the Braves with 16 hits and 12 RBI’s while allowing six hits and just one earned run. The right-hander Nick Martinez is scheduled to start for the Padres. Martinez has pitched in one game this season and allowed five hits, one earned run, and struck out six batters in 5.0 innings of work.

Until the Braves start showing some consistency it’s tough to find reason to back them. Anderson struggled in his first outing while Martinez was able to put together a solid day in his first game. The teams offenses have also had opposite starts with Atlanta struggling and San Diego coming out of the gates hot. Playing the Padres ML at –105 here which is great value against a struggling Braves team.

Atlanta Braves vs. San Diego Padres Betting Conclusion

Atlanta looks to get back to playing like World Series champs while San Diego will try to continue their hot start. As mentioned earlier, until the Braves start showing some consistency it’s tough to back them. The Padres should have a decent crowd in attendance with it being a Saturday afternoon game which will work in their favor. Backing the Padres moneyline in this one as the Braves are still riding the struggle bus.
