Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Predictions

Los Angeles had no trouble in game one against Chicago with a final score of 5-1. The Angels had solid production on offense with 13 hits and five RBIs. Starting pitcher Jimmy Herget lasted 3.0 innings and allowed one hit and one run. The other six pitchers used gave up a combine two hits and zero runs. The left-hander Jose Suarez is scheduled to take the mound on Saturday. Suarez is 0-1 in three games this season with an ERA of 5.54 and has allowed 11 hits, eight earned runs, and struck out 11 batters in 13.0 innings of work.

The White Sox struggled to get anything going on Friday with just three hits and one run. They had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, but failed to take advantage. Starting pitcher Lucas Giolito went 6.0 innings and gave up seven hits and three runs. The other four pitchers used gave up six hits and two runs. Right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez is expected to start on Saturday. Velasquez is 0-2 in three games this season with an ERA of 6.75 and has given up 15 hits, nine earned runs, and struck out 13 batters in 12.0 innings.

I like the Angels moneyline in this matchup. The White Sox have really struggled as of late, losing nine of their last 10 and scoring three runs or less in eight of those games. Neither starting pitcher has looked impressive in their first three games, but Suarez could have a decent outing with how poorly Chicago's offensive production has been. Backing Los Angeles moneyline here against a struggling White Sox team.

Los Angeles Angels Betting Analysis

The Angels have been playing good baseball through 21 games and are 14-7 SU, 12-9 ATS, and have an O/U record of 9-11-1. Los Angeles has been on a roll lately, winning their last six games. Following this trend, the Angels have gone 5-1 SU in their last six matchups against the White Sox. The total has gone over in four of the Angels last seven games against Chicago.

Los Angeles has had their bats working lately, scoring four or more runs in five of their last six games. As a team they have a batting average of .258 (3rd), on base percentage of .335 (3rd), slugging percentage of .441 (1st), and have scored 104 runs (1st).  Center fielder Mike Trout has been the team's best hitter with a batting average of .344 (20-58), five home runs, and 10 RBIs. Starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is still trying to find last year's magic at the plate with a batting average of .247 (21-85), four home runs, and 11 RBIs.

The Angels bullpen has held opponents to one run in three of their last four games. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .199 (3rd), have an ERA of 3.56 (16th), and have given up 80 runs (14h). Left-handed pitcher Jose Suarez is scheduled to get the start on Saturday. Suarez is 0-1 in three games this season with an ERA of 5.54 and has allowed 11 hits, eight earned runs, and struck out 11 batters in 13.0 innings of work. Suarez last pitched against the White Sox in 2019 and allowed six hits, four earned runs, and struck out five batters in 4.0 innings.

Chicago White Sox Betting Analysis

The White Sox have struggled to get much going this season and have gone 7-12 SU, 6-13 ATS, and have an O/U record of 9-9-1. After starting the season with a record of 6-3, Chicago has since gone 1-9 SU in their last 10 games. The total has gone under in 12 of the White Sox’s 18 games this season. Going against this trend, the total has gone over in four of their last seven games against Los Angeles.

The White Sox have scored four or more runs in just two of their last 10 games. As a team, Chicago has a batting average of .207 (28th), on base percentage of .258 (30th), slugging percentage of .335 (23rd), and have scored 60 runs (26th). Designated hitter Andrew Vaughn leads the team with a batting average of .300 (15-50), four home runs, and 12 RBIs. The shortstop Tim Anderson started the season hitting the ball very well, but has not had much success lately with a batting average of .288 (17-59), two home runs, and six RBIs.

Chicago’s bullpen has struggled lately, allowing five or more runs in seven of their last 10 games.  As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .235 (15th), have an ERA of 3.99 (20th), and have given up 87 runs (21st). The right-hander Vince Velasquez is expected to take the mound Saturday. Velasquez is 0-1 in three games this season with an ERA 6.75 and has given up 15 hits, nine earned runs, and struck out 13 batters in 12.0 innings of work. Velasquez last pitched against the Angels in 2015, but saw just one inning of action and did not record any stats.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Conclusion

I like the Angels to start this series with back-to-back wins. Los Angeles has been playing great baseball as of late while Chicago has been in a slump to say the least. Suarez on the mound for the Angels gives Chicago a bit of hope, but I think there is too much value in the Angels at –105 with how poorly Chicago has been playing, Backing Los Angeles in this one as I expect them to continue to playing good baseball.
