Chicago White Sox vs. New York YankeesBetting Predictions

The Chicago White Sox enter this matchup second in the AL Central, four games behind the Minnesota Twins for first place. The White Sox most recently lost to the Yankees on Saturday and have lost three of their last four games. The offensive production has been slacking for Chicago this season, averaging just 3.46 runs per game. The bullpen has looked good at times, but have been inconsistent for the most part. Right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech is scheduled to start on Sunday. Kopech is 0-1 in seven games this season with an ERA of 1.54 and has given up 16 hits, six earned runs, and struck out 33 batters in 35.0 innings.

The New York Yankees are currently first in the AL East with a four-game lead over the second place Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees have been one of the best teams in baseball and have won 10 of their last 13 games. The offense ranks as one of the best in the league, averaging 4.79 runs per game. New York’s bullpen has been excellent this season and have held opponents to three runs or less in seven of their last 13 games. The right-hander Luis Severino is expected to take the mound Sunday. Severino is 3-0 in seven games this season with an ERA of 3.63 and has allowed 30 hits, 14 earned runs, and struck out 38 batters in 34.2 innings of work.

New York and Chicago have met five times this season, with the Yankees winning four times. While I like that trend to continue, I think the best play here is the under. Neither starting pitcher has allowed more than four runs in a game this season and the total has gone under in five of the last seven when these teams play at Yankee Stadium. Backing the under in this matchup.

Chicago White Sox Betting Analysis

After losing to the Yankees on Saturday the White Sox are now 19-20 SU, 18-21 ATS, and have an O/U record of 15-21-3. Going against this trend, the total has gone under in five of their last seven games played on a Sunday. The White Sox are 8-3 SU in their last 11 road games and 10-9 SU on the road this season.

Chicago has struggled to get much going with their bats this season. As a team the White Sox have a batting average of .233 (19th), on base percentage of.289 (27th), slugging percentage of .357 (22nd), and have scored 140 runs (25th). The shortstop Tim Anderson continues to find success with a batting average of .350 (49-140), four home runs, and 15 RBIs. Center fielder Luis Robert has been bringing in the runs with a batting average of .297 (38-128), six home runs, and 17 RBIs.

The White Sox’s bullpen has been a bit inconsistent this season. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .237 (17th), have a WHIP of 1.33 (25th), and have an ERA of 3.80 (15th). Right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech is scheduled to start on Sunday. Kopech is 0-1 in seven games this season with an ERA of 1.54 and has given up 16 hits, six earned runs, and struck out 33 batters in 35.0 innings. Kopech last pitched against the Yankees on May 15th and struck out three batters in 6.0 innings while allowing one hit and three earned runs.

New York Yankees Betting Analysis

The Yankees have been one of the best teams in the MLB this season and have gone 29-10 SU, 21-18 ATS, and have an O/U record of 17-21-1. The total has gone under in five of their last seven games against the White Sox. Going against this trend, the total has gone over in seven of the Yankees last 10 games against an American League Central opponent. New York is 12-1 SU in their last 13 home games and 14-4 SU at home this season.

New York has been extremely efficient on the offensive end this season. As a team the Yankees have a batting average of .246 (9th), on base percentage of .327 (4th), slugging percentage of .422 (1st), and have scored 194 runs (4th). Designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton has been the Yankees best hitter with a batting average of .309 (43-139), 11 home runs, and 35 RBIs. Right fielder Aaron Judge is having another great year with a batting average of .307 (43-140), 14 home runs, and 30 RBIs.

The Yankees bullpen ranks amongst the top of the league. As a team they are allowing opponents a batting average of .221 (6th), have a WHIP of 1.12 (3rd), and have an ERA of 2.91 (3rd). Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees Betting Conclusion

With this being the second game of a double header, I like the total to go under. I expect Severino and Kopech to have solid outings and for the bats to a bit tired in this one. I would lean towards the Yankees if I had to pick a side, but the smart play here is the under.
