New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Predictions

The New York Mets enter this matchup first in the NL East standings with a nine and a half game lead over the second place Braves. The Mets lost game-one of this series 2-0, snapping a six-game winning streak. New York struggled to get anything going with just three hits on the day. This is not a common theme as the Mets have been the second highest scoring team in baseball this season. Despite losing, the bullpen managed to have a solid outing, giving up eight hits and two runs. Left-handed pitcher David Peterson is scheduled to start Saturday. Peterson is 2-0 in six games this season with an ERA of 3.03 and has given up 22 hits, 10 earned runs, and struck out 23 batters in 29.2 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently first in the NL West, four-games ahead of the second place Padres. After being swept by the Pirates in their most recent series, the Dodgers came up with a big 2-0 victory over the Mets on Thursday. The bullpen had a fantastic day, holding the Mets scoreless and allowing just three hits. This has been a common trend this season as the Dodgers bullpen ranks as the best in the league. The offense didn’t have a great day, but managed eight hits and two runs. The right-hander Walker Buehler is expected to take the mound Saturday. Buehler is 6-1 in ten games this season with an ERA of 3.22 and has given up 58 hits, 21 earned runs, and struck out 49 batters in 58.2 innings.

I like the total to go over in this matchup. These are the two highest scoring teams in baseball and are bound to have a big game during this series. Both starting pitchers are coming off rough outings and I think that will carry over into this one. Backing the over here as I expect runs to be scored from both teams.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Analysis

The Dodgers have been having a great season and are 34-17 SU, 30-21 ATS, and have an O/U record of 23-26-2. The total has gone under in five of Los Angeles’ last seven games. Going against this trend, the total has gone over in 10 of their las 13 games at home. The Dodgers are 6-2 SU in their last eight games against an opponent from the NL East and 16-8 SU at home this season.

Los Angeles has arguably been the best hitting team in baseball this season. As a team the Dodgers have a batting average of .253 (6th), on base percentage of .337 (1st), slugging percentage of .429 (1st), and have scored 276 runs (1st). Right fielder Mookie Betts has been the Dodgers best hitter with a batting average of .310, 16 home runs, and 36 RBIs. New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Conclusion

I don’t feel strong enough about either team in this matchup to back, but I do think runs will be scored from both teams. These are the two highest scoring teams in the league and I expect that to show on Saturday. I would lean towards the Dodgers to win this one, but will staying away from the moneyline and backing the total to go over here.
