New York Mets vs. Houston Astros Betting Prediction

The New York Mets are currently first in the NL East standings with a six-game lead over the second place Atlanta Braves. The Mets most recently went 3-1 SU in a four-game series against the Miami Marlins and have won seven of their last 10 games. New York was great against Miami, scoring a combined 21 runs while giving up 10 throughout the series. Their offense has been having a fantastic season, ranking first in batting average (.261), on base percentage (.334), and runs per game (5.04). Designated hitter Pete Alonso has been a monster this season with a batting average of .277 (70-253), 19 home runs, and 64 RBIs.

Houston enters this matchup first in the AL West standings with a nine and a half game lead over the second place LA Angels. The Astros are coming off a three-game series against the White Sox, winning two of the three games and are now 5-5 SU over their last 10. The offense was a bit inconsistent against Chicago, scoring 13 runs in game one, zero in game two, and four in game-three. This has been a common trend for Houston as their offensive production is a bit down from previous years. Left fielder Yordan Alvarez is having a great season with a batting average of .311 (66-212), 18 home runs, and 47 RBIs. Alvarez missed Sunday’s game with a hand injury and is listed as day-to-day, so keep an eye on his status as first pitch approaches.

These teams have not met since 2017 when the Astros swept the Mets in three games at home. This should be a great series this time around as these are two of the best teams in the league. I like the value of the Mets moneyline here in game-one. The Astro’s bullpen has been great this season, but the Mets offense continues to prove why they are the best in the league. Rolling with New York moneyline here as it’s not very often you can back the Mets as underdogs.

New York continues to roll, going 5-2 in its last seven games against the Brewers and the Marlins. Their best performance was on Monday, when they limited the Marlins to scoring no runs in the fourth contest of a four-game series. Against the Milwaukee Brewers, New York’s defense allowed for 10 runs in the second game of the series on Wednesday. The Astros have played excellent recently, highlighted by Houston posting back-to-back series victories over the Rangers and the White Sox squads, resulting in a solid 4-2 record across that window. Against the Chicago White Sox, Houston couldn’t manage a single run in the second game of the series on Saturday.

They dominated the Chicago White Sox with 13 runs on Friday, in the first of a three-game series.
