Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz Predictions

For the Sixers it’s always been about health and availability but it’s being tested to a new level this year. They’ve gone a stretch without Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Ben Simmons – who has been out from day one. They just don’t have enough with only Harris – helped by Seth Curry and Furkan Korkmaz from three. There are only three constants with the Sixers right now and it’s not enough to beat a healthy Utah team. Philadelphia knows they are getting a ton of minutes and scoring from Tyrese Maxey every night.

They also get double-digit rebounds from Andre Drummond. Finally, Harris will take a lot of scoring volume left from Embiid’s absence. Everything else is far too volatile. Even when all three things are working – as in the case of their most recent loss against the Pacers – it still isn’t enough to beat decent teams.

Utah was looking to get Rudy Gay going for the year after acquiring him this offseason, but he’s been derailed with injury and will sit Tuesday night. The team could use another spark off the bench as it’s gone ice cold recently losing four of their last five. What’s more concerning is outside of the Heat twice, they’ve lost to either bad or struggling teams.

The Sixers do fit both, but Utah has a ridiculous matchup advantage without Embiid playing. Rudy Gobert won’t have to worry about Drummond nearly as much, and the Sixers have very little scoring threat inside the paint.

Without Embiid and Simmons things are starting to crack, which would make sense taking two All-Stars off any team. The problem is the wildly inconsistent performances they get from role- players who are now asked to play starter minutes.

Danny Green and Curry can provide sparks but are best used as third or fourth options. Maxey has shined as a scorer but isn’t anywhere near the facilitator Simmons is – and the team doesn’t really have one outside of Embiid.

The Jazz have seen something of the opposite recently where they are getting a ton of scoring production from Donovan Mitchell, but not seeing anything consistent behind him. Not all falls on Mike Conley, but he’s struggled, as has the supporting cast of Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale.

The good news is Jordan Clarkson looked to have come alive from early shooting struggles off the bench. The Jazz should take advantage of Philadelphia’s weakened perimeter defense combined with zero scoring presence down low.

  • O/U: 6-8

The Sixers will be without their team-leading scorer as Embiid averages 21.4 PPG and 9.6 RPG. Harris is right there at 21.3 PPG and 9 RPG. Both are averaging 4+ APG. Maxey is now averaging 17.6 PPG and 4.6 APG off 51.9 percent shooting. Curry is also shooting well, 54 percent on the season and averaging 16.2 PPG. • SU: 8-5
  • ATS: 7-6
  • O/U: 4-9

The Jazz average just over 110 PPG as a team – good enough for 5 th in the league. They are led by Mitchell with 25.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 5.1 APG. Bogdanovic is behind him at 17 PPG, followed by Clarkson at 15.1 PPG. Gobert and Conley are the only other Jazz to average double-figures. Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz Head-to-Head

The first matchup between these two teams will be Tuesday night in Utah. It’s been rough for both teams as the Sixers are looking to stop a four-game losing streak, and the Jazz have dropped four of their last five games.

Key Players to Watch

  • PHI: Tobias Harris - PF (21.3 ppg, 9 rpg)
  • PHI: Tyrese Maxey - PG (17.6 ppg, 4.6 apg)
  • UTA: Donovan Mitchell - SG (25.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.1 apg)
  • UTA: Rudy Gobert - C (14.9 ppg, 15.3 rpg)

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz Betting Conclusion

Neither team is great ATS, but the total may make more sense here. The U is a combined 17-10 for both teams. The Sixers are struggling to find consistent scoring but still present somewhat of a difficult matchup on defense, and the Jazz are just a better version of that – better scoring and far better defense now. You can get decent odds on a SGP of the Jazz ML and Under 218. Gobert can sleepwalk on defense as nobody will challenge him, and the Sixers won’t be able to keep up with Mitchell.
