After finishing first in the West with a record of 52-20 SU last year, Utah stumbled out to a surprisingly pedestrian start to the new season, as the Jazz went just 8-5 SU and 7-6 ATS across their first 13 contests – despite being favored in all 13 of those matchups.

The Jazz have dominated consistently since that point though, considering Utah enters Christmas Day 14-4 SU and 9-7 ATS across the last 18 games – with ten of those victories coming by ten points or more.

On the other hand, Dallas jumped out to a strong start to this season, as the Mavericks kicked things off with a solid 9-4 SU run – but winning didn’t come particularly easy across that stretch though, considering Dallas went just 5-8 ATS across that same timeframe.

Injuries, along with a strengthened schedule, have quickly caught up with Dallas in November and December though, considering the Mavericks are just 6-12 SU and 8-10 ATS since their strong start – while getting tagged as favorites in just seven of those matchups.

I’ll lay the points with Utah here, as the Jazz are just 8-2 SU and 4-6 ATS across the last nine games – but their recent struggles ATS shouldn’t matter much at home against a short-handed Mavs’ squad on Christmas night.

The Mavericks are a very dangerous squad at full strength, as their various dynamic scoring threats enables them to keep things competitive against virtually any opponent – but with several key scoring options potentially sidelined for Saturday’s affair, Dallas’ lack in depth should ultimately show through.
