After finishing eighth in the West with a record of 38-34 SU last year, Memphis managed to keep that trend alive with a similarly pedestrian start to this season, as the Grizzlies opened with a lackluster 9-10 SU and 10-9 ATS run – which included frustrating losses to the Wizards, Hornets, Pelicans, and Raptors.

The Grizzlies have cleaned things up dramatically since their lackluster start though, considering Memphis sits at 14-4 SU and 12-6 ATS across the last 18 games – with nine of those victories coming by 10+ PTS.

On the other hand, Brooklyn also stumbled out to a slow start to the season, as the Nets kicked things off with a lackluster 2-3 SU and ATS skid– despite being favored in four of those affairs.

The Nets have somewhat flipped the script since their opening stretch, yet seemingly never make winning look easy, considering Brooklyn enters Monday sitting at 21-8 SU and 13-16 ATS across the last 29 games, ranking them 4th in the league SU with an overall record of 23-11 – and 26th ATS with a record of 15-19.

I’ll lay the points with Brooklyn here, as despite sitting at 2-3 SU and ATS across the last five games, the Nets are still the best team in the East when healthy – and they’ll likely remind us of that by posting a tough non-conference victory on Monday night.

The Grizzlies quickly turned things around following their slow start though, considering Memphis boasts sturdy records of 14-4 SU and 12-6 ATS across the last 18 games – despite getting tagged as underdogs in eight of those affairs.

This year’s Nets squad is much different from the prolific offensive units we’ve seen in previous seasons though, considering Brooklyn ranks just 11th in scoring and 12th in offensive efficiency (110.4 PPG, 1.071 OE) – while ranking 5th in defensive efficiency and 1st in opponent effective field-goal percentage (1.039 DE, 49.2% EFG).
