MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS. LOS ANGELES LAKERS PREDICTIONS

After finishing seventh in the West with a record of 42-30 SU last year, Los Angeles kept that same ball rolling with another pedestrian start to this season, as the Lakers opened with a lackluster 10-11 SU and 7-14 ATS skid – which was primarily chalked up to growing pains due to the groundbreaking acquisition of Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers seem content treading through February at a similarly deficient pace too, considering L. A. is just 15-17 SU and 16-16 ATS across their last 32 games – despite getting tagged as favorites in 21 of those matchups.

On the other hand, Milwaukee stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to this season, as the Bucks kicked things off with a frustrating 6-8 SU and ATS skid – with four of those SU losses coming in matchups they were favored in.

The Bucks have quietly dominated since that opening stretch though, considering Milwaukee is 28-13 SU across their last 41 games, with 21 of those victories coming by eight points or more – despite sitting just 18-22 ATS across that timeframe.

I’ll lay the points with Milwaukee here, as the Lakers are 5-9 SU and 7-7 ATS across their last 14 games, while averaging just 108.4 PPG offensively during that timeframe – setting the stage for a tough home matchup against a Bucks squad that’s scored 114+ PTS in 13 of their last 23 games (116.3 PPG).

MILWAUKEE BUCKS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 34-21
  • ATS: 25-30
  • O/U: 25-30

After finishing with the best record in the East in two of the last three regular seasons, Milwaukee’s rough start was incredibly surprising, as the Bucks’ compiled a record of 162-65 SU across the previous three seasons – and then opened this season just 6-8 SU.

Milwaukee has played excellent basketball, when healthy, since mid-November though, considering the Bucks enter Tuesday sitting at 28-13 SU across their last 41 games – with nearly half of those losses coming in spot absences of Giannis Antetokounmpo (5).

LOS ANGELES LAKERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 26-28
  • ATS: 24-30
  • O/U: 30-23-1

Hovering below .500 warrants disappointment for this new-look Lakers’ squad regardless of the circumstances, but to be fair, they’ve been banged up from the start, so it’s tough to write them off completely, considering LeBron James has already missed 17 games this season – while Anthony Davis has missed 21.

Despite their shortcomings, the Lakers rank ninth in the West with a record of 26-28 SU, which makes them the caboose of a tight cluster containing the Nuggets (29-24), Timberwolves (28-25), and Clippers (27-28). There’s still plenty of time for the Lakers to turn things around and push for higher seeding; they just need to get healthy first, and ultimately, shoot the ball better, considering L. A. ranks 23rd in offensive efficiency and 11th in scoring (1.056 OE, 110.9 PPG) – which doesn’t bode well for a squad that also ranks 16th in defensive efficiency (1.069 DE).

The total has gone UNDER in six straight matchups between the Lakers and Bucks. (AP)

MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS. LOS ANGELES LAKERS HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Lakers and Bucks split a two-game regular-season set last year, with both contests staying under the total for Tuesday’s event at an average of 214 PPG. The most recent matchup between these teams took place back in November of this season though, which resulted in another low-scoring victory for Milwaukee (109-102).

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • MIL: Giannis Antetokounmpo - PF (28.9 PPG, 11.2 REB, 5.9 AST)
  • MIL: Khris Middleton - SG (19.4 PPG, 5.6 REB, 5.3 AST)
  • LAL: LeBron James - SF (29.1 PPG, 7.8 REB, 6.4 AST)
  • LAL: Anthony Davis - PF (23.7 PPG, 10.2 REB, 2.2 BLK)

MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS. LOS ANGELES LAKERS BETTING CONCLUSION

After tallying 137 PTS in back-to-back blowout victories over the Blazers and Clippers, the Bucks enter Tuesday’s contest as generous road favorites over the Lakers at Staples Center – marking the fifth time L. A. has been an underdog across their last seven games.

I’ll lay the points with Milwaukee here, as the Bucks are 7-2 SU across their last nine games, while generating 117.8 PPG offensively during that timeframe – likely presenting a steep uphill battle for a Lakers squad that’s scored 110 PTS or less in eight of their last 12 games (106.9 PPG).

MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS. LOS ANGELES LAKERS BETTING TRENDS

  • The Bucks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.
  • The Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.
  • The total has gone OVER in four of the last five Bucks' games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in six straight matchups between the Lakers and Bucks.
