I’m normally not the biggest trends guy in the world, but this one is kind of hard to ignore. Gallinari has recently joined the starting lineup, in place of John Collins, and has been seeing 30+ minutes regularly since then. On the season he's averaging 1.5 AST, but he's now hit this number in 7 straight games, and 9 of his last 11. He recently only plated 14 minutes vs CHA, but still managed to grab 3 assists. His production has actually been so good recently that he has 3+ AST in 6 straight games, I expect that to continue today.
His season average of 3.9 AST per game increases to 4.2 in the 19 games without Gordon Hayward in the lineup. Over his last 10, we’ve seen that increase to 5.5, even coming off of a 9 assist game. The Jazz aren't normally thought of as a good matchup, but Bridges does a lot of his work around the basket, and having former DPOY Rudy Gobert protecting the paint tells me he's gonna have a couple additional assist opportunities today.
We talked about Raul Neto yesterday, and successfully cashed in on his assist despite only playing 20 minutes. With Ish Smith playing a season high in minutes, I expect to see a little less of the veteran point guard tonight. That leaves essentially Raul Neto and Thomas Satorasky to a majority of the ball handling duties. I’ve watched Raul’s assist prop change from -115 to -140 multiple times today, and I think it should probably be closer to -160. Stewart is averaging 9.4 in March, has gone over in 12 straight games playing at least 20 minutes. He’s 3/3 on this number against the Wizards tonight, and I expect him to continue that streak today.
