GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. PHOENIX SUNS BETTING PREDICTION

The Warriors rode quite the rollercoaster throughout last year, as Golden State opened with a red-hot 41-13 run before countering their successes with a head-scratching 12-16 skid to close the regular season. And they’ve followed suit in the early stages of this season, as the Warriors racked up 125 PPG on 48% FG and 37% 3FG across a 2-1 stretch to open, with their only loss during that span coming in a tough back-and-forth battle against Denver (L, 128-123).

The Suns, on the other hand, posted the best record in the NBA at 64-18 last season, while maintaining a near perfect balance of ranking fourth in offensive rating and third in defensive rating (114.8 ORtg, 107.3 DRtg). And while they haven’t quite dominated on that same level out of the gate this season, the Suns still played excellent basketball in their first three contests, highlighted by Phoenix posting a pair of tough wins over the Mavericks and Clippers, and a narrow overtime loss to the Blazers.

I’ll take the under here, as the Warriors scored 123+ PTS in three straight contests to open the season, however, all four of their regular season matchups against Phoenix stayed well under tonight’s number at an average of 212 PPG, and I expect that trend to continue after seeing the Suns surrender 105 PTS or less in two of their first three matchups (104 PPG).

Score Prediction: Warriors 112, Suns 108
Best Bet: Under 225.5 (-110)

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS BETTING ANALYSIS

When healthy, the Warriors are the most dangerous team in the West. Regardless of how you attack them, they almost always have a counter up their sleeve. They’re capable of outshooting powerhouse offensive teams like the Bucks and Nets, but Golden State also thrives against blue collar defensive squads like the Heat and Celtics.

At its core, the NBA is a make-or-miss league, and the Warriors are the best team in the league at making shots. However, the NBA season is also a marathon, and a lot can be determined by overall health status and who’s clicking at the right time. That said, the Warriors have been to six of the last eight NBA Finals, and Klay Thompson suffered season-ending injuries both years they fell short during that span. So, it’s tough to argue against Golden State getting tagged as the favorite to win the West at +300.

PHOENIX SUNS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Suns posted the best record in the entire league by nearly 10 games last season, so pretty much anything short of a championship would’ve been considered a letdown, however, their second-round loss to the Mavericks was pretty stunning, especially after going 3-0 against Dallas during the regular season.

The Suns played excellent at both sides of the floor last year, as they finished the year ranked fourth in offensive rating and third in defensive rating (114.8 ORtg, 107.3 DRtg). And while they still haven’t quite figured out how to harness that same consistency in the playoffs, this is still a phenomenal regular season team, and they reminded us of that on Sunday night with a commanding 112-95 road win over the Clippers.
