Miami Heat -1 (-110) @ DAL

The Mavericks’ injury report has filled up quickly, and as a result, they’re beginning to struggle. The Mavs are now 1-5 in their last six games, while surrendering a lofty average of 125.7 PPG at the defensive end of the floor in those contests.

However, as long as Luka Doncic is healthy and active, the oddsmakers will respect Dallas in almost any matchup. There’s no need to respect them in a matchup against this red-hot Heat squad, though.

It took Miami a little while to find its footing out of the gate this season, but make no mistake, this has been one of the best teams in basketball since Christmas.

The Heat are now 9-4 in their last 13 games, while ranking Top 12 in the league in both offensive and defensive rating across that window (116.3 ORtg, 111.1 DRtg).

So, there’s a good chance we’ll see Miami cruise on the road against a Mavs’ squad that ranks 29th in the league in defensive rating since New Year’s Day (122.6 DRtg).

Clippers-Spurs Over 232.5 (-110)

The Clippers rank dead-last in scoring and 22nd in pace, which in most cases, would beg for an ‘under’ wager with a total stationed north of OU 230 for this contest.

However, for better or worse, this L. A. squad has ramped up the pace recently, highlighted by at least one team eclipsing 119+ points in 10 of the Clippers’ last 15 matchups, while seeing modest bumps up to 18th in the league in offensive rating and 21st in scoring during that stretch.

While on the other hand, the Spurs partook in a surprisingly low-scoring battle with Brooklyn in their latest affair, as San Antonio managed to snap a five-game losing streak with a 106-98 win over the Nets this past Tuesday.

Prior to their latest outing, though, the Spurs surrendered 130+ points in three straight contests, and they’d either scored or allowed 120+ points in 14 of their last 15.

So, I’ll take the ‘over’ in this matchup between a pair of squads that have both ranked Bottom 5 in the league in defensive rating since January 1st.

Michael Porter Jr. (DEN) Over 15.5 Points

Unfortunately, Michael Porter Jr. has consistently dealt with health issues throughout his career, and nothing’s changed, considering he’s already missed a 14-game stint this season.

However, because of how well Denver continued to play in his absence, it’s allowed the Nuggets to play things conservative with Porter’s health for an extended period and ease him back into action.

Which is what they did in their latest affair, as the Nuggets hosted Minnesota on the second half of a back-to-back set, and Porter scored just four points across 22 minutes of action. I’m not totally letting him off the hook for that performance, though. Porter stunk in that game, but to be fair, he’s only played in a handful of B2B’s since last year’s season-ending injury.

Prior to his latest outing, though, Porter had scored 16+ points in eight of the Nuggets’ last 12 contests, with five of those performances ringing in at 19+ points.

So, I’ll back Porter to bounce back in the scoring department in tonight’s matchup against a Pacers squad that’s surrendered a lofty average of 121 PPG across their last 11 contests.
