GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. DENVER NUGGETS BETTING PREDICTION

If you’re looking for evidence of disparity between home vs. away performance in the NBA, look no further than Golden State’s numbers on the season. The Warriors are positioned 6th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 41-37, but their overall record certainly doesn’t tell the full story, as they’ve posted a miserable record of 9-29 on the road, and a record of 32-8 at home.

For a while, the masses seemed to believe that the Warriors’ struggles on the road stemmed from a variety of confounding factors such as drawing tougher matchups and good ole’ fashioned bad luck, however, at this point, it’s safe to assume that their location issues are far greater than originally imagined.

On their home floor, the Warriors are one of the best teams in the NBA, currently averaging 119 points per game on 48% from the field and 39% from long-range, while accumulating a net rating of +7.7, which is the fifth-best mark in the league in that department. But on the road, things are much different, averaging just 117 points per game on 47% from the field and 37% from downtown, accumulating a net rating of -6.5, which contrarily, is the fourth-worst mark in that department.

Surprisingly enough, though, Denver has still been better on its homefloor than Golden State throughout the season. The Nuggets own an impressive record of 32-7 at Ball Arena on the year, while boasting a net rating of +9.7, the second-best mark in the league in both departments. However, unlike Golden State, the Nuggets have also played decent basketball on the road, considering they’ve posted a record of 19-19 and a net rating of -2.5 away from their home building this year.

The Nuggets sit atop the Western Conference standings with a record of 51-26. So, the fact that they dominate their homefloor is often taken for granted. Whereas, the Warriors are having a disappointing campaign overall, so as the playoffs approach, everything they do is being examined under a microscope, and people are looking to make excuses for the defending champs.

Part of me still wants to believe that once the playoffs arrive, the Warriors are going to flip some kind of switch, and all of a sudden, their road struggles vanish. However, the working side of my brain knows it probably won’t pan out that way, and I should just avoid Golden State’ futures like the plague. Either way, though, I don’t see them flipping the switch in this game. Take Denver in this one.
