NFL Week 1 Parlays, Props and Teasers
Straight Parlay
- Seattle -2.5 (-115) & San Francisco -7.5 (-105)
- Payout: +265
For my first play, I’ll start with a relatively rare meeting between Seattle and Indianapolis – as Carson Wentz will finally make his debut for the Colts on Sunday afternoon against Russell Wilson and the visiting Seahawks.
I’ll lay the field goal with Seattle here, as despite Wentz appearing healthy enough to suit up for Indy in Week 1, I still expect him to experience his fair share of blunders while settling in with a new team – and typically, making mistakes against the Seahawks company breeds unpleasant consequences. For my second play, I’ll focus on another quarterback making his first appearance in a new uniform – as former Ram, Jared Goff, will make his home debut for the Lions against Jimmy Garoppolo and the Niners.
I’ll lay the points with San Francisco in this matchup, as there’s a good chance that the Stafford-Goff swap will end up negatively impacting Detroit’s offense far more than the majority thinks – so, I plan on fading the Lions until they prove otherwise.
Moneyline Parlay
- Miami ML & Green Bay ML
- Payout: +246
For my first play, I’ll dive into a matchup in the AFC East between the Dolphins and Patriots – as rookie Mac Jones will finally make his NFL debut for New England against a Miami squad headed by his former Alabama teammate, Tua Tagovailoa.
I’ll take the Dolphins money line here, as Miami was far sharper than New England on both sides of the ball throughout last season – and I’m not convinced inserting a rookie quarterback into the mix will immediately solve all the Patriots’ problems.
For my final play, I’ll slide over to an NFC matchup between Green Bay and New Orleans – with the Saints bearing a totally different offensive look to start the year, considering Jameis Winston will be looking to fill the mighty big shoes of Drew Brees at quarterback, who retired this past offseason.
I’ll take the Packers money line here though, as New Orleans still holds up as a solid unit even with Winston at the helm – but the Packers stand as a legitimate threat to take home this year’s NFC title, and they should topple the Saints with relative ease in Week 1.
Player Props
- Packers/Saints First TD Scorer - Davante Adams +550
- Chargers/Football Team Anytime TD Scorer - Antonio Gibson +100
After threatening to hold out in Green Bay all offseason, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will visit the Saints for a highly anticipated Week 1 matchup during this Sunday’s four o’clock slate.
I’ll roll the dice on Adams scoring the first touchdown here, as I think Rodgers will come out and try to make a statement in this matchup early – and what better way to do it other than linking up with his favorite target for Green Bay’s first TD of the season?
For my final play, I’ll roll with an anytime touchdown scorer prop in Sunday afternoon’s bout between the L. A. Chargers and Washington Football Team.
I’ll back second-year running-back, Antonio Gibson, to punch in a touchdown for the Football Team here, as Gibson scored touchdowns in 8-of-14 games during his rookie season – and I expect to see Washington lean on him for the bulk of its red-zone workload in Week 1 with Ryan Fitzpatrick still adjusting to a new scheme.
