Best Bet: L.A. Rams -1.5

Best Bet: Russell Wilson (SEA/QB) Over 277.5 Passing Yards

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks Predictions

After swapping quarterbacks with Detroit during the offseason, Matthew Stafford and the new-look Rams got off to an excellent start to the new year – as L. A. posted impressive wins over the Bears, Colts, and Buccaneers across the first three weeks of the season.

Sean McVay’s squad hit a slight roadblock in Week 4 though, considering L.A. hosted Kyler Murray and the undefeated Cardinals this past Sunday – and their defense finally wavered a bit, as the Rams surrendered 37 points on 465 total yards during their somewhat surprising loss to Arizona (L, 37-20).

On the other hand, the Seahawks have been on a bit of a roller coaster to open the new season, considering Pete Carroll’s squad sat at an underwhelming 1-2 mark after losing consecutive matchups to Minnesota and Tennessee – landing Seattle as short road underdogs against San Francisco in Week 4 (SEA +2.5).

The Seahawks bounced back with a gutsy performance in San Francisco though, as despite getting out-gained by more than 200 yards throughout last week’s event (SF – 457 YDS, SEA – 234) – Seattle’s defense forced a pair of crucial turnovers, which provided enough wiggle room for Russell Wilson and company to escape with a narrow victory (W, 28-21).

I’ll lay the points with L.A. here, as the Rams’ head-scratching loss to Arizona last week consisted of tactical blunders that typically come with the growing pains of revamping an offensive system – and bouncing back against Seattle’s 28th ranked pass defense shouldn’t stand as too tall of a task on Thursday night (292.5 YPG, 7.5 YPA).

The Rams head into Thursday’s matchup as a narrow road favorite over the Seahawks at Lumen Field – marking the first time Seattle has been an underdog at home this season.

The total for Thursday night’s event is stationed just south of OU 55 at most shops, which appears to be a token taken from these teams’ Week 4 scoring outputs (U 52, O 54).

Los Angeles Rams Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-1
  • ATS: 2-2
  • O/U: 4-0
  • ATS - Home: 2-1
  • ATS - Away: 0-1

The Rams put the entire league on stand-by after capping off their perfect 3-0 start with a double-digit victory over the defending champs (W, 34-24) – but that lofty appraisal was somewhat short-lived, as L.A. ended up getting thumped by the Cardinals at home this past Sunday (L, 37-20).

The oddsmakers still think McVay and Stafford’s reign of success hasn’t quite ended though, considering most shops lean towards L. A. as a narrow road favorite over Seattle in Thursday night’s event (LAR -2).

Personally, I agree with the tag – as the Rams’ offense looked like a well-oiled machine in the first three weeks of Stafford’s tenure (31.7 PPG, 388 YPG), and that heightened level of production should easily be restored against Seattle’s feeble secondary in Week 5.

Seattle Seahawks Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 2-2
  • ATS: 2-2
  • O/U: 1-3
  • ATS - Home: 0-1
  • ATS - Away: 2-1

After tagging the Seahawks as favorites in Weeks 1 through 3, the oddsmakers somewhat abandoned their faith in Wilson and company ahead of their latest matchup – as Seattle ended up traveling to San Francisco as short-road underdogs against the Niners (SEA +2.5).

The Seahawks were bailed out by some unfortunate injury circumstances in last week’s matchup though, considering Niners’ starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, exited with a calf injury in the first half – and then rookie, Trey Lance, couldn’t quite keep the boat afloat for San Francisco.

I still like Seattle in certain spots, as the Seahawks still wield the necessary offensive weaponry to topple most squads in shootout fashion – but I doubt Wilson and company will be able to keep pace against an elite, balanced unit like L.A.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Conclusion

After having a three-game winning streak snapped by Arizona last week, the Rams will hit the road as a narrow favorite over the Seahawks at Lumen Field this Thursday night – marking the first time Seattle has been listed as an underdog at home this season.

I’ll lay the points with L.A. here, as the Rams’ defense should be able to generate enough stops to create some separation and force Seattle into playing catch-up early – which is why I’m also electing to roll the dice on Wilson’s passing yards over in Thursday night’s event.
