Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions

Who doesn't love waking up early for football! While the NFL has not necessarily given London fans the cream of the crop, we should have a solid ballgame between two eager Florida teams. These teams have a combined one win this season, but at least it can't get any worse for one of these lucky southern teams. The Dolphins should be getting former first round pick Tua Tagovailoa back, while first overall pick Trevor Lawrence will try to build on a couple solid games.

I think there are many reasons to run to the window to get money down on the Dolphins here, especially in London I say go with the better team. Last week a lot of people got cute and tricked themselves into playing the Jets, despite the fact that the Falcons were clearly the better team and I think that may happen again. The Dolphins are a well coached team with a lot of good defensive talent. They should get things figured out sooner rather than later, and this Jaguars team is a good opponent to turn things around.

Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 1-4
  • ATS: 2-3
  • O/U: 3-2
  • ATS - Home: 0-2
  • ATS - Away: 2-1

The Dolphins came into this season with sky-high expectations, but unfortunately we've seen nothing but disappointment so far. A lot of it falls on the offense's inability to move the ball, and the lack of explosive plays. Tua will continue to face a lot of pressure, considering where he was drafted, and it's do-or-die time for the young quarterback.

Normally when people discuss a “get right spot” it's on offense, but I think this is a great spot for the defense. The Dolphins just aren't built to blow teams out and score a lot of points. Coach Brain Flores built this team on defense and ball control, which they should stick to for as long as possible. The Jaguars don't present a very challenging defense, but their weakest area is probably run defense - an area that Miami may struggle to exploit.

Running back Myles Gaskin is also someone to keep an eye out for. His role exploded in the receiving game last week and it seems like he could be heavily involved again. Tagovailoa has shown a tendency to check down in his past starts, and Gaskin could be pivotal to protecting Tua in his first game back since going on the short term IR.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 0-5
  • ATS: 1-4
  • O/U: 2-3
  • ATS - Home: 0-3
  • ATS - Away: 1-1

The Jaguars are currently win-less, with losses already against incredibly weak opponents like the Texans and Titans. Their strength of schedule has been relatively weak but they are coming off some of their best performances, including in prime-time against the Bengals. Lawrence is finally showing a lot of the traits that made him a first round pick. Urban Meyer is starting to trust his decision making along with mobility, as we've seen with his rushing numbers increase over the last couple weeks.

The Dolphins are going to be the toughest secondary they've faced so far, so it will be important to monitor Lawrence going against a more challenging task here. The Dolphins have struggled getting pressure on opponents but their secondary has remained strong despite that. They funnel a lot of targets over the middle so TE Mike Gesicki could be in for a good week.

Overall, I expect this team to continue to struggle. They have put up two solid performances but that was against the Bengals and Titans, not the best resume coming into this game. When faced with a defense ready to turn things around, I think it might be a tough game for the Jaguars.

Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Conclusion

Overall I think this game is going to play at a very slow pace. I’m expecting the Dolphins defense to force at least one or two turnovers and the offense to be able to hold on the lead. I haven't seen a line for it yet, but I would bet Lawrence to throw an interception will be a good prop this week. If it has a lot of juice, I would recommend throwing it into a London Same Game Parlay!
