Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings Predictions

After Green Bay’s eventful offseason, the Packers inevitably stumbled out to a sluggish start to the new year, as Aaron Rodgers and company kicked things off with an embarrassing 35-point loss to New Orleans back in Week 1 (L, 38-3).

Since their blowout loss though, Green Bay has looked like a legitimate title contender from top-to- bottom, highlighted by the Packers entering Sunday’s contest following wins in eight of the last nine games – with their only loss across that span coming against the Chiefs, which was a matchup Rodgers did not participate in (L, 13-7).

On the other hand, Minnesota also got off to a shaky start to the new season, considering the Vikings entered Week 5 sitting at a disappointing 1-3 mark – with their only victory across Weeks 1 through 4 coming against a relatively pedestrian Seattle squad (W, 30-17).

The Vikings have seemingly erased that perceived stench though, considering Minnesota heads into Sunday’s contest following wins in three of the last five games – which includes a somewhat unimpressive trio of victories over the Lions, Panthers, and Chargers.

I’ll lay the points with the Packers here, as Green Bay has allowed 14 PTS or less in four of the last five games (11.6 PPG) – while Minnesota has been far too inconsistent to warrant backing against upper-tier defensive squads.

Green Bay Packers Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 8-2
  • ATS: 9-1
  • O/U: 2-8
  • ATS - Home: 4-0
  • ATS - Away: 5-1

After falling to New Orleans in Week 1, Green Bay just needed a week or so to knock the rust off, considering the Packers immediately bounced back with a trio of victories over the Lions, 49ers, and Steelers – while averaging 30.7 points scored and 20.7 points allowed across their following three games.

Since Week 5 though, the Packers’ success has surrounded excellent defense, highlighted by Green Bay allowing 20 PTS or less in five of the last seven games (13.8 PPG) – with the only two teams to break the 20-point barrier across that span being prolific offensive squads in the Cardinals and Bengals.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-5
  • ATS: 5-4
  • O/U: 4-5
  • ATS - Home: 1-3
  • ATS - Away: 4-1

After stumbling out to a disappointing 1-3 start to the season, the Vikings completely fell off the league’s radar for a few weeks as they squared off in slightly less compelling matchups against the Lions and Panthers in Weeks 5 and 6.

Since returning to .500 with narrow victories in those two events though, the Vikings have quickly reverted to mediocrity – and I expect Green Bay to handle business rather easily in this Sunday’s matchup.

Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings Betting Conclusion

After bouncing back with a victory over Seattle last week, the Packers will travel to Minnesota for Sunday’s matchup as a two-point favorite over the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium – marking the first time Green Bay has been favored on the road since visiting Chicago in Week 6.

I’ll lay the points with Green Bay here, as the Packers have won eight straight games with Rodgers under center – and I doubt an incredibly inconsistent Vikings squad will hinder them on the way to a ninth on Sunday afternoon.
