LOS ANGELES RAMS vs. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Rams appeared to suffer from a brief Super Bowl hangover in their opening matchup of the season, as Sean McVay’s squad scored just 10 points 243 total yards in an ugly Week 1 loss to Buffalo (L, 31-10). However, they looked much better in Weeks 2 and 3, as the Rams averaged 25.5 PPG on 338 YPG across consecutive victories over the Falcons and Cardinals, despite turning the ball over four times in those two affairs.

The Niners, on the other hand, have been on quite the rollercoaster to start the year, as San Francisco scored just 10 PPG on 299 YPG across a pair of losses to Chicago and Denver in Weeks 1 and 3, which was separated by a solid 27-point offensive performance in a Week 2 win over Seattle (W, 27-7).

I’ll back L. A. here, as San Francisco scored just 15.7 PPG on 324 YPG across the first three weeks of the season, and while the Rams’ offense hasn’t exactly been spectacular either (20.3 PPG), it certainly doesn’t bode well for Jimmy Garoppolo and co. heading into a matchup against the toughest defense the Niners have faced this year.

Score Prediction: Rams 24, Niners 20
Best Bet: Rams ML (+105)

LOS ANGELES RAMS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Rams won the NFC West with a record of 12-5 last season, and ultimately went on to win the Super Bowl. However, the Rams weren’t overly impressive throughout year, as their offense averaged 27 OPPG on 373 YPG, and defensively, they allowed 21.3 DPPG on 333 YPG; which is nothing to be ashamed of, but it doesn’t exactly scream title contender.

When healthy, Los Angeles is the cream of the crop in the NFC, and in the grand scheme of things, Matt Stafford’s lingering elbow injury doesn’t concern me all that much, but it’s still important to note Stafford hasn’t quite looked like himself to start the season, as he averaged just 254 PYPG and posted a 4-5 TD-INT ratio in the Rams’ first three matchups, which is a considerable step back from the 287 PYPG and 41-17 TD-INT ratio he posted last year.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Niners stumbled out to a rough start with QB Trey Lance under center, as San Francisco scored just 10 points on 331 total yards in a wild slip-and-slide game against Chicago in Week 1 (L, 19-10), which was followed by another weak first-quarter performance against Seattle in Week 2, as 21 of the Niners’ 27 points came after Garoppolo’s entry at the 2:30 mark in the first quarter.

However, the spark provided by Garoppolo wore off very quickly, as the Niners scored just 10 points on 267 total yards and turned the ball over three times in an ugly one-point loss to the Broncos on Sunday Night Football last week; and while their next performance can’t possibly get any worse, I’m certainly not expecting them to rack up 27 PTS against a tough Rams’ defense either.
