ATLANTA FALCONS vs. CAROLINA PANTHERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Falcons strung together a surprisingly solid first half of the season, as Atlanta opened with a modest 4-5 stretch consisting of wins over the Seahawks, Browns, Niners, Panthers, with four of their five losses coming by narrow margins of six points or less.

However, the key to Atlanta’s success has been offense thus far, as Marcus Mariota and co. currently rank 10th in the league in scoring at 24.1 PPG, while defensively, they rank 26th in points allowed at 25 PPG.

The Panthers, on the other hand, posted a very frustrating start with Baker Mayfield under center, as Carolina followed up last year’s 5-12 campaign with a similarly poor 2-7 skid to open this season, while ranking 23rd in scoring and 30th total offense during that span (19.9 PPG, 286 YPG).

I’ll take the over here, though, as the Panthers’ offense has cranked out a modest average of 25.3 PPG across their last three games with PJ Walker at the helm, while on the defensive side of the script, also surrendering 37+ PTS in two of those three affairs. Ultimately, setting the stage for a high-scoring battle against a Falcons squad that’s scored 26+ PTS in five-of-nine matchups this year, which already includes a 37-point outing against Carolina (W, 37-34).

Score Prediction: Falcons 27, Panthers 23
Best Bet: Over 43.5 (-110)

ATLANTA FALCONS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Panthers stumbled out to an incredibly disappointing start following the offseason acquisition of Mayfield, as Carolina averaged just 17.2 PPG and turned the ball over eight times across a miserable 1-5 skid to open, while scoring less than 17 PTS and allowing 24+ PTS in four affairs during that timeframe.

The Panthers haven’t exactly played well the last three weeks, especially on the defensive side of the ball, however, their offense has played surprisingly decent with PJ Walker at the helm since Week 7, highlighted by Carolina scoring 21+ PTS in three straight games heading into Thursday night’s tilt.

CAROLINA PANTHERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Nobody gave Atlanta much of a chance after posting a 7-10 record in Matt Ryan’s final campaign with the squad last year, as the Falcons entered this season with a win total OU of 4.5, which projected them for a last place finish in the division behind the Panthers with a line of OU 5.5 wins.

However, Atlanta enters Week 10 just one win away from clearing that number, as the Falcons currently find themselves tied for the division lead alongside the Bucs with a record of 4-5, with the lone differentiating factor between them being Tampa Bay’s 21-16 victory over Atlanta back in Week 5.

Atlanta’s highest scoring output of the season came in a 37-34 victory over Carolina back in Week 6, and while I’d love to use that as an excuse to back the Falcons in this contest, I simply can’t bring myself to do it after seeing them surrender 34 PTS to the Panthers with Walker under center just a few weeks ago.
