Los Angeles Chargers Over 19.5 Points Scored

Typically, I avoid the Chargers like the plague. However, they are usually offered at a much different price point, as Sunday night’s matchup marks just the third time L. A. has been tagged as an underdog of 3.5+ PTS since the beginning of last season, and the two times that they were doubted on that level prior to this contest both came in road matchups against Kansas City.

The Chargers never make anything look easy, and they’re still dealing with an array of health issues. But putting those things aside, L. A. enters Week 10 riding a solid 4-1 stretch, which includes wins over the Broncos and Falcons, both teams that San Francisco already lost to this season.

The Chargers experienced their fair share of ups and downs in the first half of the season, however, they’ve still scored 20+ in six-of-eight matchups, while ranking 13th in the league in scoring at 23 PPG. And while inevitably, things might get ugly against an elite Niners defense, I still think you’re getting good value on the Bolts to score 20+ PTS here.

Austin Ekeler (LAC) Over 5.5 Receptions

Against my better judgement, I sprinkled some change on the Chargers’ moneyline in this matchup, despite knowing this is exactly an ideal spot for them, as San Francisco’s defense continues to get healthier every week, and Justin Herbert has had his fair share of struggles in the absence of his top two receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

However, L. A.’s limited pass-catching options makes this another good spot for Austin Ekeler’s receiving props, as he enters Sunday having caught 6+ passes in six of his last seven games, with four of those performances ringing in at 8+ receptions for 48+ receiving yards.

So, I’ll back that trend to continue here, as San Francisco’s defense will probably put a steady dose of pressure on Herbert in this contest, which should result in plenty of checkdowns to Ekeler.

Christian McCaffrey (SF) Over 39.5 Receiving Yards

Christian McCaffrey was relatively quiet in his debut with the Niners back in Week 7, as the former Panthers’ RB carried the ball eight times for 38 rushing yards and caught just two passes for 24 receiving yards in an ugly 44-23 loss to the Chiefs.

However, McCaffrey exploded onto the scene in Week 8, as he carried the ball 18 times for 94 rushing yards and caught eight passes for 55 receiving yards in just his second outing with the Niners.

I’ll back him to have another solid night in the receiving department here, as McCaffrey caught 7+ passes for 50+ receiving yards in three straight matchups prior to joining his new squad, which took place within the framework of a stagnant Panthers’ offense. And I think we’ll see his production to continue to rise now that he’s a focal point of a much stronger offensive unit.
