The 49ers are the hottest team in the NFL by winning 10 straight games and found a way to do so without its top two quarterbacks down the stretch, Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. San Francisco swept Seattle in the regular season, capped off by a road victory at Lumen Field in Week 15 in rookie Brock Purdy’s first away start.
The Niners will be a huge public play in Saturday’s playoff opener as 10-point favorites, while the Seahawks have struggled to cover numbers down the stretch (1-7 ATS the last eight games).
However, this Seattle team, in spite of needing Detroit to beat Green Bay last Sunday night to clinch the final playoff seed in the NFC, is playing with nothing to lose and double-revenge.
San Francisco came within one win of reaching the Super Bowl last season and covered in all three playoff games as an underdog. Laying this heavy number with a rookie quarterback making his playoff debut seems like a lot to ask, even with Purdy playing well.

The expectations before the season for Seattle were in the toilet after the team traded away franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver. The joke was on the Broncos, who finished 5-12 and in last place of the AFC West, while Wilson posted one of his worst seasons ever.
The Seahawks received several first round picks in the Wilson deal and elevated backup Geno Smith to starter as he produced the greatest statistical season in franchise history with 4,282 passing yards. Smith threw 30 touchdown passes, while leading Seattle to its ninth playoff appearance in the past 11 seasons.
From an ATS standpoint, the Seahawks began the season covering six of the first nine games, but slumped to a 1-7 ATS mark in the final eight contests. Seattle picked up six outright wins in the underdog role, although only one of those victories came against a playoff team, the Chargers in Week 7.
In the two losses to the 49ers this season, Seattle scored a grand total of 20 points with one of those touchdowns coming on a blocked field goal returned for a score in the Week 2 setback. In the home defeat, the Seahawks fell behind, 21-3 and scored its lone offensive touchdown in the two games against San Francisco with 3:30 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS BETTING ANALYSIS
It’s amazing to think that the 49ers began the season with a road loss at Chicago, who finished with the worst record in the NFL. That’s a long-lost memory for Kyle Shanahan’s team, who started 2022 at 1-2, which included a wonky 11-10 road defeat at offensively inept Denver.
Purdy, who was dubbed as “Mr. Irrelevant” due to being the last player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, has skyrocketed to stardom, at least in the Bay Area after leading the 49ers to six wins (five as a starter) following a leg injury to Garoppolo in Week 13 against Miami.
During this 10-game winning streak, the 49ers have cashed eight times, including five consecutive covers at Levi’s Stadium. The defense yielded a league-low 300.6 yards per game, while allowing 20 points or fewer nine times in the past 10 contests.
In spite of the terrific defensive numbers, San Francisco is riding a 9-4 Over run the last 13 games since remaining Under the total in the first four games. In the six games Purdy played in, the 49ers posted 33 points or more five times, with the lowest-scoring affair in this stretch coming in the 21-13 win at Seattle.
