Home ice advantage has proved decisive for the first four games between the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights. Colorado hammered Vegas 7-1 in Game 1 and squeaked out a 3-2 overtime win in Game 2 at the Pepsi Center, before the series moved to the desert for the next two games. The Golden Knights responded with a 3-2 win of their own in Game 3 and routed the Avalanche 5-1 in Game 4.
Now, it’s a best of three between Colorado and Vegas for the right to move on to the Stanley Cup semifinals. The Golden Knights need to win at least one game in Denver to advance, and they can potentially close out the series at home in Game 6 with a win on Tuesday night.
Colorado will get things going at home in Game 5. The Avalanche are going to get a few more calls on home ice, and Cale Makar will be a difference maker as an offensive defenseman. Makar has the potential to be the best blue liner of his generation, and he will help Colorado cash in on its power play opportunities.
