CALGARY FLAMES vs. ANAHEIM DUCKS PREDICTIONS
The Flames registered a 3-2 victory in Los Angeles Monday, kicking off a four-game road trip. Johnny Gaudreau lit the lamp twice with three points, and Jacob Markstrom made 27 saves to outduel Cal Petersen. Calgary was able to slap the brakes on an 0-2-1 mini-skid which also involved a 3-2 shootout setback in Calgary on March 31 against those same Kings. The UNDER is 3-1 across the past four games overall for the Flames.
The Ducks are looking to bounce back from a 6-1 spanking from the Edmonton Oilers on 'The Pond', and the OVER result was the first in six games after a 4-0-1 UNDER run. The Ducks have had a difficult time lighting the lamp lately, going for two or fewer goals in five of the past six outings. The last time they tried their hand against the Flames, Calgary buried them 6-2 at home on Feb. 16. The Flames also won 4-3 in a shootout in Anaheim on Dec. 3, while the Ducks registered a 3-2 overtime win as moderate underdogs in Calgary back on Oct. 18.

Anaheim hasn't had that kind of success against the Flames, or anybody, lately. The Ducks are just 20-41 in the past 61 games at home, 15-41 in the past 56 as a home 'dog and 10-43 in the previous 53 against teams with a winning overall record.

The Flames righted the ship with a 3-2 win against the Kings, but Calgary still hasn't been hitting on all cylinders lately. Since a nine-goal outburst against Edmonton on March 26, the Flames have managed a total of 10 goals, or 2.5 goals per game across the past four outings. It has allowed 13 total goals, so a minus-3 goal differential across four games is a little on the rare side for the first-place Flames. Calgary still has a healthy plus-68 goal differential, while leading Edmonton by four points in the Pacific Division with two games in hand.
Picking the Ducks is risky business, as they just have a 5-0 win against the Arizona Coyotes on the road in the past 12 games (1-8-3) dating back to March 6. That March 6 game against the San Jose Sharks was also their last victory one home ice, so that's one full calendar month that the home fans have suffered. However, I am expecting the Ducks to maintain their mastery of the Flames on home ice, as Calgary just isn't playing very well lately.
