LOS ANGELES KINGS vs. COLORADO AVALANCHE PREDICTIONS

The Kings picked up an impressive 5-2 win in Chicago behind Jonathan Quick, cashing as a moderate favorite as Los Angeles snapped its three-game losing skid. The OVER cashed for the second straight game after a 4-0 UNDER run for the Kings. Cal Petersen will be back in between the popes for this one.

The Avalanche posted a 2-1 win in a shootout in Edmonton on Saturday, and have had a couple of days to rest their bumps and bruises. Colorado has won six in a row, as it aims for a Presidents Trophy. The Avalanche have 110 points on the board, tied with the Florida Panthers, although Colorado has a game in hand. During the six-game win streak, the Avs have outscored the opposition 22-14, and they're 7-0-1 across the past eight, with its most recent loss in regulation on March 23 at home against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Kings grabbed the 5-2 win in Chicago last time out, but facing Colorado is a completely different animal. Los Angeles fell 3-0 at home against the Avalanche March 15, as Darcy Kuemper grabbed the shutout in a matchup with Jonathan Quick. Prior to that, the Avalanche posted a 4-1 win over the Kings in L.A. on Jan. 20, as Kuemper again bested Quick.

The Kings have posted two wins in the past seven games overall, while going 2-6 in the past eight as an underdog and 1-4 in the past five against teams with a winning record. However, L.A. is 12-5 in the past 17 on the road, while winning six straight when playing on no rest.

The UNDER has connected in four of the past five games, while going 4-1 in the past five as an underdog, while going 9-4 in the past 13 when playing in the second end of a back-to-back situation.

COLORADO AVALANCHE BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 52-14-6
  • ATS: 35-37
  • O/U: 37-30-5

Colorado welcomes Los Angeles, a team it has dominated in recent seasons. The Avalanche are 8-0 in the past eight meetings, while going 4-0 in the previous four battles in Denver. The favorite is also 20-8 in the past 28 meetings, while the UNDER has cashed in 10 of the past 13 battles.

The Avalanche have been dominant, winning 40 of the past 51 games overall, while going 48-9 in the past 57 games at home. The Avs are also 4-0 in the past four against winning teams, while going 46-13 in the past 59 as a favorite.

In terms of the total, it's been all about the UNDER. The UNDER is 10-4 in the past 14 games overall for Colorado, while going 4-1 in the past as a favorite. The UNDER is 5-1 in the past six at home, while going 18-7-1 in the past 26 against Western Conference foes, and a whopping 13-2-1 in the past 16 against winning teams and 5-0 in the past five against Pacific Division teams.

LOS ANGELES KINGS vs. COLORADO AVALANCHE BETTING CONCLUSION

The Kings are facing a quick turnaround, flying from Chicago to Denver to play the league's best team less than 24 hours after its previous game. In addition, the Kings are also losing an hour from Central Time to Mountain Time to make matters a little worse. Thanks, NHL schedule maker!

For the Avalanche, they're plenty rested, last playing on Saturday, and that's the only thing that can cool them down - rest. Colorado has been unbeatable on home ice, and they're not going to fall to a tired Kings team here, either. Look for plenty of goals for the home side against a tired L.A. defense.
