The Stars won their final three regular season games, all at home, against three non-playoff teams. Their most recent loss was a 4-2 setback in Calgary on April 21 as the total pushed. In that game, the teams played to a scoreless first period before exchanging power-play goals by Calgary's Matthew Tkachuk and Dallas' Jason Robertson in the second period. Calgary outscored Dallas 3-1 in the final 20 minutes for the victory.
The Stars won the first game in Calgary by a 4-3 count in overtime back on Nov. 4, with the Flames winning the final two meetings. The OVER is 2-0-1 in the three meetings this season, and 3-0-1 in the past four meetings in this series overall.

The good news for the Stars is that they won the final three games, but those victories were against non-playoff teams. D John Klingberg is nursing a lower-body injury, but he is expected to be ready for Game 1.
The bad news is that the Stars weren't nearly as efficient on the road, dropping each of the past three road games against Canadian teams. They fell 4-2 against the Flames on April 21 in the most recent trip north of the border, as well as losses at Edmonton on April 20 and at Vancouver on April 18. Dallas is 1-4 in the past five games on the road, too.

The Flames wrapped up the Pacific Division despite losing the final two games, including a 3-2 overtime setback at Minnesota on April 28, and a 3-1 loss at Winnipeg in the regular-season finale. The Flames were a very ordinary 5-4 in the final nine games, including the 4-2 win over Dallas on April 21.
Calgary cashed in 10 of the past 14 games as a favorite, and they have covered the puck line in eight of the past 13 outings. So if you like the Flames, you should like them to lay the goal and a half, too.
The OVER is 6-3-1 across the past 10 games overall for the Flames, including 5-0-1 in the past six games at home.
DALLAS STARS vs. CALGARY FLAMES CONCLUSION
The Flames are heavily favored in this series, but it's not going to be easy for the Pacific Division champs. The Stars are battle tested with plenty of postseason experience in recent seasons. The biggest issue for the Stars might be goaltending, as Jake Oettinger heads into the playoffs as the No. 1 goaltender for the first time in his career, with Scott Wedgewood as the backup. That's likely going to be the difference, as Jacob Markstrom has been Vezina quality for the Flames, and a huge part of the team's success.
In fact, Calgary allowed just 2.5 goals per game this season, ranking third in the NHL during the regular season, while killing 82.9% of penalties, ranking sixth on the kill. The power play is potent, too, hitting at a 23.1% clip to rank 10th. The Flames have plenty of offense, outstanding defense and a good kill with some goaltending. That's a recipe for success. Expect them to double up the visitors in Game 1, and make quick work of the Stars in this series, too.
