CALGARY FLAMES vs. DALLAS STARS PREDICTIONS

The Flames won the Pacific Division title, and they nailed down the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. After scratching out a 1-0 victory behind Jacob Markstrom in Game 1 on home ice, Jake Oettinger and the Stars turned the tables in Game 2 with a 2-0 victory as the UNDER cashed again. In Game 3, the Stars doubled up the Flames 4-2. It was a TERRIBLE beat for UNDER bettors, as Roope Hintz tucked an empty-net goal in with exactly 1.0 seconds left on the clock to flip the total from UNDER to OVER. It was one of the worst bad beats you'll ever see in hockey.

The Flames held a 2-1 lead in the middle of the second period before Joe Pavelski leveled the score. Pavelski then returned with a power-play goal midway through the third, and then we told you about the empty-net goal. The six total goals in Game 3 was twice as many as the first two games of the series combined. We likely will see a return to the more defensive nature, as the Flames are desperate for the win, as they try and avoid a 3-1 series hole.

CALGARY FLAMES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 51-23-11
  • ATS: 45-40
  • O/U: 41-37-7

The Flames do not have a case of the Mondays, as they have picked up victories in seven straight played on a Monday. The Flames have won just one of the past five games overall, while also going 1-4 in the past five as a favorite, and 1-4 in the past five on the road, too. The good news is that Calgary is 17-8 in the past 25 games when playing on a day of rest.

For totals, it's all about the UNDER. The UNDER has hit in four of the past five games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five as a favorite, and 6-2-1 in the past nine on the road. The UNDER is also 6-2-1 in the past nine as a road favorite, and 9-3-1 in the past 13 playoff games as a favorite, too.

DALLAS STARS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 48-31-6
  • ATS: 37-48
  • O/U: 36-47-3

Dallas looks to put Calgary in a very difficult position, a 3-1 series hole. The Stars have won five of the past seven games overall, while going 27-11 in the past 38 games at home. They're also 5-1 in the past six games in the Western Conference Quarterfinals Round. It isn't all great, however, as the Stars are 1-5 in the past six games as an underdog, and 1-5 in the past six playoff games as a 'dog, too.

As far as totals are concerned, it's all about the UNDER for Dallas, too. The UNDER is 6-2 in the past eight games at home, while going 3-1-1 in the past five as an underdog. The UNDER is 4-1 in the past five as a home 'dog, too, while going 3-1-1 in the past five playoff games as an underdog, too.

CALGARY FLAMES vs. DALLAS STARS CONCLUSION

The Flames are desperate for a win, and we should see them throw a blanket of defense on the Stars. Jacob Markstrom is the type of goaltender who can stand on his head and steal a game. He is also the kind of goalie who can do the heavy lifting, leading his team to a series win. But he does need some offensive support, and Calgary has managed a total of just three goals in three games. Jake Oettinger has been on fire, keeping the visitors down.

Look for the Flames to scratch out a low-scoring game, knotting up the series 2-2 before heading back to Alberta for Game 5, and what will basically be a best-of-three series going forward.
